Thanks Bullseye. That doesn't sound like we've bought the lease from the RFL, if we've only committed to 18 months.

Unless there has been a change in who's responsible for the liabilities and a reduction in rent might as well start preparing for liquadition two.

That's my fear and something that isn't addressed in any detail anywhere publically.

Well surely the running costs, maintenance etc is reduced by at least 50% with star trax being involved. There has been some refurbishment which might mean less running costs on things that were previously neglected.



While I still don't fully trust Wood, Mark Sawyer has been heavily involved in this process. When you look at well he runs a tight ship at Dewsbury I feel more confidence the sums have been done.

Well Chalmers clearly spent nothing on stadium upkeep barring a few floodlight bulbs. The rent was £75k a year IIRC.

I don't get where the massive costs are, as apart from the stand roof there is almost no structure - therefore nothing to catch fire or fall down. Nothing's been condemned (or has it?). And a group of stock car enthusiasts got a safety cert in a matter of a few months (huge credit to them).

Council rates are meant to be low 6 figures. Which by all accounts are some of the highest stadium rates in rugby league

Chalmers obviously couldn't afford even a lick of paint when we were in Championship and L1 with the overheads above.



So as Redeverready says unless something changes the chances of another financial meltdown are very real.

I’m still sceptical about the ownership and even about the move back.



But the team have done enough in the last 5 games to convince me that they’re a team worth watching. I guess the only way Odsal will be sustainable is if we turn back up!



Would much rather get wet through on the Odsal terraces than make the trek to Dewsbury.

Was going to mention the rates but someone's beat me to it. Based on the size of the site I bet they are obscene.



I suspect that the current 18 month deal includes a deal on the rates from the local authority. Especially as they get a mention in the club's statement. You'd hope so anyway but I guess we've been down that road before.



I doubt the club planned to move back this early but the stadium capacity at Tetley's Stadium being only 700 due to Covid restrictions probably forced their hand.

I emailed them last night about pre payed season tickets , hoping to get a reply today, I also asked them about stadium car parking.

i had the luxury of being in the old wooden stand on the pop side, but since then ive been p##ed on, snowed on, fogged on (who can forget the rolling fog that came down rooley and swamped the pitch against wigan), hailed on, sunburnt, froze my nads off .... i cant be there obviously but i wouldn't have it any other way. Gimme odsal every day

I'd guess that the 'eye watering' rates figure was probably to compensate for the 'peppercorn' rent we used to (and presumably the RFL still do) pay to the council?

IIRC the figure mentioned at time we left for rates was 100k a year. Surely that will be split with Stock cars now. Devils in the detail of the new deal. until some detail comes out its impossible to say whether we're better of or not.

I've heard RFL are desperate to get rid of lease but with out having any sitting tenant no one has shown any interest.

Not sure where you get the 100k figure from. The total cost of operating a season at Odsal was 400k all in this includes all costs.

Where did you get that figure from? If correct I hope we're getting a good contribution from Startrax.
