Video report from tonight's Welsh news plus full reports on the Welsh Champions Schools Finals. Outstanding that this got on the news. They were interested as the two finals today were all Welsh speaking schools - the first time that a Welsh RL Grand Final has been played completely be Welsh speakers, and it happened twice in a day.
www.walesrugbyleague.co.uk/artic ... inals.html
The video is in Welsh but even if you don't understand it, it's worth a watch. Two minutes long which is a great piece for a widely watched programme in Wales.
Here's the gist of the news piece...
Introduction about Crusaders losing but Rugby League is catching on in schools in Wales.
Talking about four school teams in two finals, Llanhari, Ystylafera and two teams from Cwm Rhymni - all Welsh speakers.
A few years ago there were only eight schools in Champions League, now over 50 schools entered this year (not mentioned that there were 156 school teams - an average of 3 per school).
The kids are saying that they enjoy playing the game and it's more physical than union.
Aled James talks about potential in the kids and that Rhodri Lloyd has played for Crusaders already.
Presenter concludes by saying that although Crusaders are no longer at the Brewery Field, they've left a legacy in South Wales.
