Not in the CC i know but Fax beating St Helens at central park in the semi of the J P cup always brings a smile. Fax were at the time around 7th in the old 2nd div, Sts were 2nd in the 1st, If I remember right fax also beat Fev and Salford in earlier rounds both of which were 1st div teams.

There was a pretty big upset brewing earlier on as Leigh Miners were beating Whitehaven 14-0 , but Haven have battled back to 28 - 20.

Apart from Huddersfield actually finishing tenth in Super League in the year that they lost to Hunslet.



Great performance from the Miners tonight, lost 20-40 in the end but it was 20-22 with ten minutes left with Miners dropping who was almost a certain try when two-on-one with the full back

I remember in the late 70's amateur team Pilkington Recs went away to play Castleford in the cup and only lost 23-22 after leading 15-3 at one stage. That would have been some achievement if they'd managed to hang on.

Amatuers Siddal have beaten Doncaster today 0-26.

Got to agree with hunslet v hudds. Hunslet were a very average division two side and hudds were in super league. Because it was so early in the comp i dont thunk this gets the credit it deserves

I don't know where to start but one senior player said to me yesterday "What are we getting right here".

Wrong. Huddersfield were an average super league side who had just gone the previous season unbeaten and won every trophy available to us in 2002 so had plenty of confidence and a winning mentality. That season was the start of where we are now, we were no longer the whipping boys under tony smith and took the scalps of wigan leeds and saints that year. Just thought i'd clear that up
