Am I allowed to point out that Raynor's been imprisoned for a crime worth less than £50k, yet I'm unaware of a single prosecution of any banker responsible for destroying our economy, wiping out people's jobs and effectively defrauding the shareholders of their banks to the sum of billions of pounds, all the while pocketing millions in unearned bonuses?

Such a shame because Raynor showed such promise in the first game against Leeds. Unfortunately rugby league has the most unforgiving fans in the world and if Gareth comes back to play rugby league after he’s served his time lets hope that he doesn’t get the same uncalled treatment that Ryan Bailey and Chev Walker have had.

The lad was found guilty and the consequences apply but something about the "system" is wrong.

Indeed, the poor lad! All he did was defraud people of thier money over the internet. 2 year's jail for fraud.



Seems harsh when there's vile Australian players coming over here and making honest mistakes on their visas and only getting deported and banned form the country for a paltry 10 YEARS!

I find it strange he was on a suspended sentence for assault but is jailed for fraud, mind you his defence about being a role model was pretty laughable

Defrauding the state is the biggest crime you can commit, they arnt really bothered about you assaulting folk as it doesnt effect the establishment, only "chavy scum"

Am I the only one who thinks the legal system has got it right in both cases?



In the first conviction, the judge took into account the fact that he pleaded guilty to the assault and that it was a first offence and that he was of previous good character (and plenty of people came forward to say so). Maybe the judge (rightly or wrongly) regarded an incident with a nightclub bouncer as having some extenuating circumstances?



For fraud & counterfeiting, though, it's a pre-meditated crime which went on for a significant period. It must have required a fair amount of organisation to import stuff from China and re-badge it - not a momentary loss of temper or misjudgement. Also he pleaded not guilty at the initial hearing, wasting court time and CPS money. For the amount of cash that's quoted, there must have been thousands of people who were affected by this. I suspect the court will be trying to confiscate his assets to recoup money as well.



Did his girlfriend get a guilty verdict & custodial sentence too - none of the reports say much about her?
