I’m not bagging him, just that I believe out of three mentioned he is the current weaker one. I see a lot of raw potential in Dudson and think it is way too early in his career to write him off.

50 minutes Manchester - Charleroi and then about 90 Charleroi - Antwerp and a darn sight nicer than Hull.
Never understood the homesickness thing, fill your boots while you can and then go back home when the playing career is over, unless of course you're Joel Moon and need too move closer too the folks.

| Apparently there is an announcement of a new signing today so I'd say Dudson is on board.
Just looked at his stats and I didn't realise he was as big as he is, 6ft 3 and 17 1/2 stone is one hell of a big unit.
Him and Tasi on from the start and then Mozz/Griffin/Forster/Groat/Walne as interchange is impressive, just hope Dobson can work behind them better than Smith did last year.
I doubt there will be a bigger pack than Salford next season with most of the new front rowers being well over the 17st mark.
Good thing for me is that in Walnex2 & TP we have players who can play big minutes in the 2nd row if needed so we really do have plenty of options off the bench.

Maybe there's a clue in the name whether we've signed a ---'un .
Of the two I'd rather have Taylor , due to the form he showed at HKR .
Dudson only featured in 11 games last season so is on the outer .
over the last two years he's
averaged 10 carrys & 6.9 Metres
17 tackles per game.

Exactly. If you compare his stats over the past two years with the props we've had in that time, he doesn't look 'good' at all. Had he played for us last season he'd have been our second lowest average metre maker amongst the props (only Shannan McP had a lower average, and to be fair to Shannan, most of his metres were made towards the touchline on a stretcher), and average or below average on pretty much every other statistic. Same applies to 2013, and when you consider we finished bottom that year, I'm not sure that a player who wouldn't have stood out in that team (jeez, even Jake Emmett had a higher average gain that year) could ever be classed as 'good'.
It may still be the case that Dudson has potential (although he's failed to fulfil it at Wigan), but we already have a number of young props with potential (Adam Walne in particular is what a 'good young prop' looks like). What we need now is a prop who is closer to the finished article and, as you say, Taylor would be a much better signing.

| Taylor would by far be the better of the two, although Dudson does have the raw potential to be a very good prop further down the line. However as RJ says, we have Adam Walne, Carl Forster, Luke Menzies and even Matt Groat as young potential props. Not forgetting the even younger George Tyson too, who I still feel will make it. We don’t need another.
After struggling for props last season, next year we’ll have; Mozza, Puletua, Tasi, Griffin, Taylor, Forster, A.Walne, Menzies and Groat. Assuming we’ll take four (min) into each game, it gives Harris’ a good selection dilemma.

I see Matt Groat more as a Utility forward , not an out & out Prop, and I'm unsure whether we still have Tyson?
the more props the merrier .
likely two or three of the forwards are liable to have spells on the treatment table , and that extra yard of room made by the right forward creates so much opportunity , for the Halves & backs , just need a ' Roby ' now to exploit the room .

| I asked this on social media before and I'll ask it again: Would you rather have Dudson on a permanent deal or Scott Taylor for 12 months? I reckon Scott's the better player but he's homesick so is almost certainly going to be leaving us in 10 months (lets not pretend otherwise). With that in mind, Id rather have Dudson. Hard to plan for the future and get excited about a signing when by this time next year we know he'll be training with yet another club.

Hull owner said on Radio Humberside tonight that Scott Taylor is signing for you for one year only, which he said should be interpreted as good news for FC fans. His family in Hull say that he has signed for Hull FC for 2016 and that now seems to be confirmed. Good signing for you guys for next year though!

So Hull FC's unofficial spin doctor is stating on a public forum that his club have broken the anti-tampering deadline by several months.

Taylor. Dudson is very, very ordinary. Why sign a player who, unless he shows some massive improvement, isn't likely to improve the team? I don't think the one year deal is a problem either, since anything could happen in that time. For example, what if Sam Burgess doesn't settle at Bath and wants to play Rugby again?

| Taylor is ten times the player Dudson is. He's got plenty of improvement in him as well. He probably just lacks a bit of aggression, if he had that he'd be a top line international.

I'd be more concerned about whether bringing in a player who we know is not staying with us could hinder the development of the others who we have more of a vested interest in developing (Walne, Menzies, Forster) - in effect, we're developing a player for Hull. Unless of course we're going to do a Cas and do everything we can do to get a loanee to change plans.

| I think this has a bit of a worry about it. It's one thing to take a player on loan who's intention is to get back to his home club and needs to prove his worth to achieve that.
But IF Taylor has already signed for another club for the following season, then other than keeping fit where is the motivation and committment to perform coming from?

I worry that he will just coast through the year until he can head home.
And as someone else has said it is a bit of a kick in the teeth for the other young players who are already on the books, they might find themselves behind him for a season. which for me potentially stifles their growth and desire.
As a result I can see one of the younger players going out on loan for the season to the Championship. Not entirely sure if possible but to Bradford or London would be ideal as every team will up their game when they play them, maximum competitive edge each week.
