I can't actually believe i agree with you on this , although for totally different reasons . i prefer it when we play our fullback as the third halfack the way Brett used to play , Now Matty Russell with 3 tries, 3 assists and and 8 clean breaks all season is never gonna be that player so for me the sooner we get Ratchford at 1 the better .. Russell simply isn't good enough at Fullback so get him on the wing where he may get put into space to use his pace and like u say use that also for running outta dummy half .. but i want Ratchford at Fullback .. .

I'll agree, probably the best atmosphere I've been in. You're right Wire Yed, was the season opener, was freezing cold. Still have the game on VHS - need to get it converted really.

How quickly time flies by.

The Pie fans were dumb struck and unable to raise a meaningful song themselves in reply.

Yes the Pies kept scoring and we kept singing, even louder.



I often lose my voice after a Pie game but lost it for a day and a half after that game. Well worth it.

What I loved about that game was the way the fans sang.



Anyone seen Zulu? Well the bit where they have 3 rows of guns, row 1 fires and as they are reloading row 2 fires and then as they reload row 3 fires.

I don't know how it was choreographed but the bottom half would sing 'VDV barmy army' and then the top half would, it kept the noise constant. Always thought what would have happened if we'd actually been winning?

We would perhaps just cheered the trys, sushed the conversations and sang individual songs...



The mentality from us that day was....

We're going to get beat, we don't care.

We are here, you don't like us, we don't care.

We make noise, you don't like it, we don't care.

We hate Wigan, that's the way it is feck you.

Don't forget: it was a Thursday night (not everyone works 9-5 during the week or has a job that they can book time off randomly); not all fans who would go to a weekend game live or work locally; we may go back to that ground to play Saints in two or four weeks time; we will have extra tickets to pay for outside season ticket games in the Play-offs (could be as many as three extra games or four if we lose in week 1/finish 5th, if we end up going all the way - not saying we will by the way)...
