Ben Mellor is around 20 and was a very good junior.



I saw him play for Lancashire Academy a couple of years back in the same team as our very own Nicky Stanton (and Kyle Eastmond, Sam Tomkins and Lee Mossop).



They battered Yorkshire that day IIRC.

Is he Sean Mellors 'lad' (played for us in the 80's I think he's PR man for Oldham (used to do the matchday announcing at Warrington)?

Ben is a really nice lad. Played his amateur rugbyat Latchford and played in their under 16's team that won the Lancashire Cup in 2005. His Dad Sean played for Leigh having signed for us a 19 year old. Ben's brother Joe is currently at Wigan. If I remember rightly Ben won Warrington's academy player of the year a couple of years ago.

He is. Lets hope he is better disciplined than his dad. Saw him sin binned 3 times, yes 3 a few years ago. Fortunately the match was abandoned when the referee suffered an 'injury'. I actually think he was just too scared to sin bin Sean a fourth time
