He didn't extend it after failing to make the top 4. The 2 year extension was announced in April, when Fev were riding high in 2nd place having already won at Leigh, and at a time when Leigh had a caretaker coach, it may even have been that MC had one eye on the situation at Leigh when extending Duffy's contract.

But was there a clause, stating that the extension depended on a top four finish? (with the associated financial rewards)

is this one of those occasions if the RFL adjudicates in our club's favour, they've got it bang right, and if it goes against our club they're corrupt, have a vendetta against us, bias, incompetent etc etc?

yes there was, according to an interview with Duffy shortly before the end of the Shield campaign. Whether that clause was one-way or not (ie did Duffy have an opt-out clause as well as Fev if the top 4 wasn't achieved) I have no idea.

Since you keep asking about it on the different forums the anouncement was here: [urlhttps://www.featherstonerovers.co.uk/news/duffy-agrees-new-deal-GeFdj[/url, but like you I wasn't party to the actual contract details so have no idea what clauses were included (i.e. it could have said only valid if making the top 4 or it is at Fev's discression if not making the top 4, etc.).



However like you I don't think anything will come of any legal action.

You have to wonder why it wasn't sorted when Duffy suggested the contract was only valid if they made the top 4. Surely Fev spoke to him then?



Whatever is in the contract is in the contract, and that will play out. Seems to me like nonsense going on at both clubs. But I suspect Fev weren't too downhearted when Duffy didn't arrive for the first day of pre season.

Not sure what laws of the game have been broken! Quite clearly states sacked for gross misconduct. That's an issue between Duffy and Fev to sort. Why "Leigh" had to be mentioned in that statement is of no consequence.

I always found it a little strange to why Duffy opened up stating that he 'would love to coach Leigh' during the 8's.



Was it a strange thing to say, or was it simply 'My contract is null and void and I would love to coach a team for whom I have a big association with' ?



Fev have stated that they now have a vacancy and I doubt anything will come of it.

Leigh have never announced signing Duffs so we've done nothing wrong all rumours and hearsay , no doubt he's going to be or next coach though for once our silence has been to our advantage

I believe the agreement between Campbell and duffs was only verbal and not set in stone so that will prob go in our favour

Let's just say, hyperthetically for arguments sake, a coach does not actually sign an extended contract, and once his current contract expires enquires at another club much nearer to home about a vacant coaching position.. What then?



As an aside and totally unrelated, Anyone remember Richard Whiting and an extended contract with Leigh, before hastily departing for Toronto?
