Inherited wealth "just happens". Self-made cash is different. Leigh lad made good was only made good by gumption and hard graft over a fair few years. Yes, he has a fair amount of disposable income but he chose to throw a good bit of it the club's way and for that all Leigh supporters should be grateful.



Should he then choose to have a few harmless (with the possible exception of the boxing match) larks with a similar and like-minded matey, then why the fuss? Top flight RL is serious on field. That doesn't debar a little fun thereoff.

I'm not sure what you're trying to say there but if you're talking about people getting involved in a dying club then I was there as a volunteer every week sitting in the same room as Alan and other volunteers, trying to help keep the club going.

Alan seems quite magnanimous about the past, Mr C. Mish doesn't post often so Bongser will not judge (especially as he quite fancies her avatar). Whatever went on between you and Derek needs to be left alone. Kak has happened in Bongser's life. He chooses not to dwell on it.

Like you say it seems a lot of people do brown nose DB and seem to be intimidated by him.

Respect is there for what he's put into the club but we don't need it shoving down our throats. The glory should go to the lads on the pitch - not an owner! Can you imagine Simon Moran acting like DB does - no coz he's far too professional.

Not sure I like being part of a dying breed Keith. It smacks of dinosaurs, and dodos.

I thoroughly enjoyed what I did at the club - as I told Paul Terzis one day, when he caught me staring at the pitch - "I'm watching the grass grow!" I packed in out of frustration - there just weren't enough of us to share around the work, and we were just treading water, with no imminent chance of progress



As for the current owner, we haven't always seen eye-to-eye, (life would be pretty boring and unproductive if we did) and I don't always like the way he goes about things, (just my opinion, which isn't always right!) but we sure as heck wouldn't be in SL right now, but for him. We would still be treading water, or sunk without trace! For what he has done, he has my respect and gratitude.

Although I've cringed and said so at some of DB's comments especially when he very first took over, I don't really see this TV appearance as anything more than two mates having a bit of fun. And if like the weight loss challenge it happens that some charity somewhere along the lines benefits then all well and good.



My biggest concern with regards to DB is were would it leave us should he walk?

The only thing i see is a guy who had the vision and cash to return Leigh to SL for the first time in 12 years. Whether you like Derek as a person or not im sure he doesnt care but the one thing he should get his respect for putting your towns team back in with the big boys.

Not seen anyone having a pop at why his pic on the side of a pub - just think this should for players! Why is Arthur Thomas or Brian Bowman or James Hilton not on the pictures?



No mention of his charity donations - which is applauded. But as great as this is, it always brings attention to him. I don't gloat when I buy a sandwich for a homeless person or put some loose change in a charity box.

Maybe as an owner of a club and business, highlighting raising cash for charity brings more cash for said charity? Where as you putting what ever in a charity box brings nothing to the said charity in terms of extra input?

Evening Pedro. Firstly, Bongser thinks that the "Every Little Helps" is a Tesco ad (and as, seemingly in cahoots with ASDA they have both recently removed their 4 strong ales for 5-6 spondooliks, Ste everyone is drinking less beer - tesco will probably claim that that lidl (sic) bit helps too!)



As to putting a couple of quid in a charity box,
