A bloke’s confidence or cockiness IMO is measured by what he says i.e. “I think we will make the GF and will probably win” is confidence, “I think a lot of people, mainly from this forum are going to have to eat humble pie come the GF” could be said to be cockiness, and there’s nowt wrong with that; as long as its pie they eat, and not [uyour [/uwords you must eat! only time will tell
