This isn’t Wanes team though…
For years this team have struggled to win the majority of big games that matter.

Last season we were a bit like Meatloaf so not too shabby.
So far this season we've played two games that actually matter and won both.

| Quote Stu M="Stu M"Obviously gutted coming out of the ground last night especially when we nearly won it in the dying seconds but all things considered I'm not overly concerned. That was like a play off game last night but put Batchelor, Sironen and Makinson back in that side and we will be fine.
Losing Roby and Percival during the game and the impact on the interchanges was just a step too far against a big physical Catalan side.
We still look very clunky in attack and devoid of ideas at times, relying on Lomax or Welsby producing some magic and the fact that we have already lost the same amount of games this season as all of last season isn't great. The quality of SL is struggling though when we are still where we are in the league despite this.
On the plus side Dodd looks to be coming back to form, certainly taking the line on more and looks like his confidence is coming back and I thought Delaney was outstanding against such a huge experienced pack. I've spoken about him for a while and I think at 19 he has great potential to be a superb forward. Needs to fill out considerably but his engine and the way he carries gives him a great future.
Leigh next week will be full of energy and are the form team in the comp but in a knockout game played at a high intensity we may hopefully still have too much for them. A lot depends on if the 3 I mentioned above are all back as worryingly Wellens doesn't sound 100% that it will happen.
The 2 extra days rest certainly help as Leigh play on Sunday.'"
Couldn't agree more about our attack we looked clueless again nothing but one man rugby and drop off passes

We’ve played two must win games and won them and I would say we’ve had two other games that carried huge hype (Wire away and Good Friday) and we won those as well.
It gives me great hope for the rest of the season but I would like to see a bit of momentum being built in the next few weeks.

| I commented last night that Lomax was completely anonymous, and not for the first time this season. Is he carrying an injury or just not getting on with Wellens' style of play?

| Massive blow loosing Passi and Walmsley. Hopefully speedy recovery to both. Never nice seeing these sorts of injuries on players

| Jack Welsby is comfortably the best player in superleague IMO.
He was the difference last night

Fair play. I’m still away but felt compelled to log in to reply to the comments on the Sam Walters thread.
I didn’t see it last night obviously but I believe Welsby was outstanding. I can’t get my head around the fact that Wigan fans (some) either don’t rate him or feel like they can’t praise him. I can only presume that this is due to him being a Wigan lad as the same fans seem fine at giving the likes of Roby due praise.
The decent Saints fans out there have no problems in admitting how good French and Field are. Even Wellens referenced them last night. I’ve no issue either in admitting I’d have loved to see Walters at Saints. He’s a proper s***house who opposition fans will hate but he’s going to be excellent.
However for whatever reason Welsby is described as over-rated. He’s a genuine superstar who is only going to get better and better. If he goes to the NRL then so be it, I hope he kills it over there.

| Still prone to at least one brain fart per game though. Take that out of his game and I would agree.

For me........it's because he's an a***.
Roby just goes about his business and does it extremely well. Never seems to be in any controversial moments during a game etc. Welsby is one of those that screams in a players face when they make a mistake and puts a target on his back for fans. He doesn't mind staying down where it may benefit his side neither (not the only one in the league granted) which are all things he just doesn't need to do.
Same as Sam Tomkins was/is. A great player, but one I feel opposition fans will just never take to. Not sure if he'll ever get to the point where fans boo him playing for England though

That’s sport mate, they’ll have been saints fans claiming Sam Tomkins was overrated even in his prime.
I know saints fans that didn’t rate O’Loughlin
It’s just tribalism.
