| Quote jonh="jonh"While i understand where you are coming from if Wigan were to hijack the signing it would be at a very very last minute stage.
I am also of the opinion that we are not in for him, IL has been over to see the Cowboys and must have been aware of Tronc's availability for a while now, my opinion is that we were not in for him and have in fact made our frontrow signings for 2010, and hopefully the other signings too, they simply will not be released into the public domain until we have a coach in place for 2010.'"
This is all purely speculation and opinion, no one really knows, (unless they have spoke to someone in the club) what will happen on any signings.
Question is, do people have faith in IL? Do we think he'll come through with the signings?

| Quote Cruncher="Cruncher"Interesting - 4 minutes is all it took.
You can never post anything about Matt King's wages without a Wire fan rushing on to deny it. I suspect they have some kind of email alert system attached to our board. I'll put this theory to the test in another couple of days, and see how long it takes then.
Of course, you only go to that kind of trouble if it's something you're very embarrassed about or sensitive to - or both.'"
Neither. I cannot abide untruths. I will vehemently argue against any untruth, regardless of their connotation.

It's a strange one with Matt King and the Wire fans. They were happy to sign of one the worlds best and highest profile outside backs but don't want to admit that he must have been offered a shed load to come over. He was a current Australia international and NSW player at the time of him signing and they had compatition from bigger clubs for his signature so it's not un-reasonable to think he must be on at least £200,000 per season. I don't see why they have a problem with admitting that. He came solely for the money in the same way that most players from the NRL do.
We have a guy in Fielden, that lets face it came for the money and like King has been a let down and i've never once heard a Wigan fan trying to deny he's on a fortune.

I have very strong links with the other club involved and all be it a couple of weeks back was told Tronc was in the bag, that is the last i have heard of it to e fair but i know some of the other posters on there website who also have very strong links to suggest nothing has changed.
Regards the Wigan side of things i would say my stance is more educated guess, taking in info from several different sources, but i agree i could be putting 2 + 2 and coming up with 5, but lets face it that is what this thread is all about.

I don't suppose we can answer that question until such signings are made or until such time as it's announced that no signings will be made.
He signed Gleeson remember, which was quite unexpected and bucked a trend of thought that he wouldn't pay transfer fees.

I won't deny he is on a fair whack, at the end of the day you don't ask for a release unless it is a sizeable sum. I just take exception to the ridiculous figures being banded about. I only know one thing that is factual; King is not the highest earner at Warrington and the highest earner is not on a salary above £200k.
My theory on his release is something along the lines of; at Melbourne he may have been on $200/220k Aus, we go in with an offer of £150k, with the exchage rate at the time providing an offer in the region of $340 Aus, with the shenagans of image rights, it may have taken it closer to $400 Aus. What would you do if the opportunity to almost double your salary for a guaranteed period came along?
Instant headline; King signs $1.6 million contract.

If King isn't the highest earner at Wire and the hughest earner is on less then 200k you did unbelievably well to get him for that price when you did.
I honeslty can't see that being right but you know more then me.

That may well be all well and good, but you also seem to forget that other clubs were also hotly chasing his signature. The above hypothetical situation assumes you were the sole bidder when you were not.
I have my doubts any SL club could sign a current established Australian Rep player for anything less than £200 k prior to add ons, just my opinion.

That's the point. IL did bring in Gleeson, but also has missed out on one or two other signings that would have been great for our club.
Considering this, at this stage, do you have faith that he'll come through with the signings?

Exactly, at the time of his arrival, he was a rep player, a good age, and had the potential to rip up SL. Instead we signed Carmont and got a better deal!

It is my understanding that when it came down to the 11th hour, we were the only ones to have put a contract in front of him.
