Just to confuse matters we could sign up all three because of the new rules the RFL have made Phil Bailey will count as a federation player because he was signed before the rules were in place in 2007.
This explains it:
The RFL has now announced that clubs will be able to renew or extend the contracts of non-federation players who were signed before the rule was changed in June 2007.
Those players can be retained on top of the non-federation players that clubs are allowed, though the new dispensation will expire if players switch clubs or at the end of any contract extension.
So in theory we could sign up all three players but we would be able to buy another overseas player.
So we have to release either Cameron Phelps or George Carmont if we want to bring in another overseas player. To bring in two we would have to release both.'"
I had never bothered educating myself on the cap tbh and it just really confuses me.

| Quote LovesToSpooge="LovesToSpooge"People seem to be complaining about who we've signed when in fact we haven't signed anyone yet, plus that list is players out of contract next year, so no point picking players of it if were gonna have no space for them because of signings made this year. I can certainly see the sense in waiting for the right players, what I've yet to see are players that people would like to sign this year who are out of contract this year and available.'"
Correct.
We're very good, on this message board, at talking ourselves into a suicidal state.

| Listening to Veivers on Sky Sports news it seems the club will support Hock.
So i would let Farrell, Mossop fight it out for the number 11
Quality prop and Scrum half and i'm happy

I would go with those three in the backrow with Flanagan and Farrel as backup, It's really a big juggling contest as to who comes and goes and we could by possibly strengthening one area inadvertently weaken another through the quota system. In the end it's swings and roundabouts and if it came down to strengthening either the frontrow or backrow I'd choose the frontrow.

they said "wigan assistant phil veivers tells sky sports the club will support gareth hock"

Which he did and then they cut the clip.

I suppose he's going to need support from somewhere, or he's likely to go totally off the rails.
Glad to see that, to be honest. Offender or not, he's still one of ours. His ban is punishment enough, so it's good that we haven't just cut our ties with him and abandoned him to a very uncertain fate.

From an outside view I think those three plus Flanagan and Farrell would be fairly weak, purely down to an experience point of view really, though I think Hansen is fairly average. I think you'd either have to keep Bailey for another year or two or sign someone more experienced, given that nether Flanagan nor Farrell have had any serious gametime in the first team.

He is one of the best players this country has produced ina while nevermind just Wigan, it's just a shame he is so thick.
What is also a shame is that I have heard from a very good source that it is not Gaz Hocks fault, he just got caught, there are more than we think doing the same.
