| Quote jonh="jonh" RJH are you really that sad that you have to take a great performance like tonight and use it to have a pop at posters who do not agree with you. '"
Dont get upset Jonh. Anybody can be wrong. I simply had no choice but to point out that all your years of rambling about how Noble cannot coach anything other than 5 drives and a kick has well and truely been blown out of the water tonight.
Quote jonh="jonh" I have to credit Noble tonight and am happy to do so the team played to the levels it should tonight and the tactics are starting to change. '"
Full credit on the praise good man!
Quote jonh="jonh" Tonight was a very anti Noble style peformance and hopefully it is a sign he is evolving as a coach '"
I very much doubt he has evolved from 5 drives and a kick to that sort of a performance in a few weeks. I think its more a case that he has finally got the new players to gel and 2 halfbacks that actually work well together along with the correct team selection.
Quote jonh="jonh"As a aditional point it is interesting that the tactics myself and Dave and other "bandwagon" jumpers have called for, for the last 2 years tonight brought success in such emphatic style to the performance and victory, maybe Brian has been on here taking note
'"
Of course, the tactics that you have told us for years he cannot coach.
Oh one last thing. Bailey back to centre was a smart move short term wasnt it?

| There shouldn't just be black and white, there are shades of grey in between. Wigan have produced some dross in recent times and Noble has been deservedly criticised. Tonight he clearly deserves his praise and I would have to agree that its a style of play we've rarely seen from a Noble team. Very refreshing, possibly one of the most complete performances seen from Noble's Wigan bar 10 minutes or so in the second half. If we can maintain it, all fans will be firmly back in the Brian Noble fan club.

I am not upset at all quite the opposite, jesus i get accused of having a big ego usually by the people on this thread attempting to plump there own.
Lets not forget we have been here before, we need to back this up, the entire point is though things finally looked like they could be turned around. A few of the pundits have been saying for the last week of so this is a watershed for Nobles Wigan career, and what is pleasing after tonights offering is that he seriously seems to have changed his ethos, but again we saw this on the odd occasion last year and then went back to the dross 90% of the time.
For the first time in god knows how long i saw a real positive team contribution with support runners and dummy runners and options, for a ball carrier, regardless of errors blamed on the players such as poor ball retention etc we have not seen this very often in the past, hardly at all this season expect when we were chasing the game, now you can say tonight they followed his game plan, but clearly this was a diffenent game plan to what we had seen from him before and that in the important thing.
I personally suspect that the situation he was in regards his coaching future has forced a rethink and a change of ethos, fantastic, long may it continue.
The opinion of Noble does not change over night that would just be stupid and a very fickle personality trait, but today he has gone up in my estimations and i look forward to next week and the rest of the season with a renewed enthusiasm, as to be perfectly honest after the offerings of this year and the perevious 2 years performances I have started to fall out of love with our great game, lets hope toinght will be a platform for bigger and better things.

| As I posted in "that" thread. I am going to dig it out at the end of the season so we can all laugh at the posters and their comments (and their lack of understanding of RL)
Tonight went some way to proving why I posted what I did.

So every poor performance can we all laugh at you?
Lets be honest we have played 5 games performed in 1, much like last season. I am very positive about next week and hope we can kick on, which i think against Leeds we may well do, i do not mind if we win or lose a win would be nice but another performance is essential.
I personally think the week after the Leeds game will be a big indicator of the true extent of our resurgance.

| What everyone has to remember here is that is virtually impossible to go through a whole SL season without a grey patch, without a few poor performances. Whether at the start, middle or end of the season these are inevitable.
To truly judge a team's potential you have to look at the way they respond to it. Tonight was an indication that they are responding in a loyal and professional manner, by pulling together and for the first time in a while, playing as a team. I agree with you jonh that after Leeds will be more of an indication, let's just enjoy the win and get behind the team once again at Headingly.

| Quote WigansForeignLegion="WigansForeignLegion" Did I say that? No. I'm saying that tonight we had a decent halfback pairing and excellent support of the runner. Quit with reading what's not there, it makes you look silly. '"
Who chose the halfback pairing? Oh yes it was Noble! The man who will not give youth or British players a chance?
Sorry pal,i really have to disagree here. I will hold my hand up if i am wrong but the only people who look silly are the ones who have questioned Nobles ability as a coach. We have had every excuse under the sun that his sucsess at Bradford was not due to him. I remember Jonh at one point saying Noble had won all the trophys at Bradford by pure luck! Now that is making yourself look silly.
Quote WigansForeignLegion="WigansForeignLegion" Yes we need a coach, I just don't think Noble's the one.'"
Your allowed your opinion of course,i just dont see what you base it on. We have been one game away from the grand final for the past 2 years losing out only to the eventual champions. The only thing that has been missing is the consistancy throughout the year and the exciting brand of RL that we saw tonight, something Noble himself vowed to change this year!
Quote WigansForeignLegion="WigansForeignLegion" If he gets the team to play like this for the remainder of the season and breeds some consistency into the side then I will owe him an apology. '"
That is his next challenge yes. Consistancy is not something that happens overnight though. You firstly need a settled team working together as a unit and the players need to be prepared to turn up every week. Its no coincidence that Saints and Leeds have been a settled side for years and have been the most 2 consistant teams in the comp.
Quote WigansForeignLegion="WigansForeignLegion"Until then I question if he's the man for us. '"
Keep questioning, its not like he has a very good track record is it?

I'm not really sure how to reply, as I am not sure what point (if any) you are making.
However, to answer your question
"so every poor performance can we all laugh at you?"
The answer is no.
There will be good performances and bad ones. However, what I didn't do (unlike yourself) is throw my rattle out of the pram and claim that our coach was useless, that he had lost the dressing room and no players were prepared to play for him.
After tonight you must surely see that you were wrong.
We may play poorly, we may get beaten, but a lot of the bile that was directed towards Noble was totally and completely unjustified, as a few of us posted to that effect.

you have to laugh you really do, tonight if anything was an indication of just how wrong things have been under Noble for 90% of the time and just what kind of performance the team is capable of.
Lets put the shoe on the other foot most of the Noble supporters have slated the players for there lack of ability and skills, have they proved all those doubters wrong tonight with a 1 off performance?

| Let's not.
Let's point and laugh at the posters who were calling for Noble's head.
Let's laugh at the thought that they actually thought that they knew more about coaching and RL than he did.
Let's laugh at the egg on the face of the above posters.
Let's also point to the fact that it's only March. Noble's teams generally "kick on" around August/Sept time.
It's going to be funny to cut and paste some of the posts made by some posters as this season unfolds.
Let's do that shall we?

| People seem to be trying to stray away from the original point of why i posted this thread.
Jonh/DaveO and the bandwagon jumpers pointed out Noble could only coach boring 5 drives and a kick Rugby.
Those people have well and truely been proven wrong tonight.
Those same people regulary said Noble would not give youth or English players a chance-Wrong as proven again tonight.
DaveO said Noble had been forced into playing young players through injurys. Whilst that is stating the obvious and something that happens at any club Noble has proven that he will stick with young British players as long as they perform. He has also shown that the saying that he will not drop players is also nothing but a myth.
