With hindsight could there be an argument for a larger stadium? Downsides would be giving up home advantage, the potential costs of hiring another stadium and the risk of empty seats. But in an ideal world the fixture would gain some momentum in the coming years and bigger stages are considered (ala Leeds at Elland Road for a few years).
I asked the question previously but no-one seems to know how the revenue is distributed.

Tough to say really but I’m not sure we’d have seen this sort of snowball effect had we taken the game to the Etihad for example. The game sold 10,000 tickets on Day One and that has just got peoples backsides in gear. I got them towards the end of that first week because of the strong sales or else I probably wouldn’t have bothered yet. Had the game been at the Etihad, I think you then run a risk of not building up the sort of momentum you have by having a limit of 23/24k and as weeks go by people can find excuses not to go.
When all comes to all I think pretty much everyone desperate to be there will be. Had we taken it to the Etihad, I think we might’ve managed around 30k but it’s a costly exercise and the empty seats aren’t a great look on TV.

Think a lot of the fan base are more likely to go with it being at the familiar DW and in the town of Wigan.
I kind of like the idea that some people will miss out on tickets. Asking mates for any spares, maybe even touts haha.
Makes it an occasion

Pity the stadium has a reduced capacity as I feel we could have achieved full 25k sellout.

Definitely will be an occasion:
A 22k crowd made up of mostly Wigan fans.
Saturday 8pm kickoff under the floodlights.
Probably a firework entrance.
Pre-match band to get the crowd warmed up.
Cannot wait!!

It is and hopefully they can maybe squeeze a few more in here and there but it’ll look great and be a fantastic occasion regardless.

Hopefully they can manually replace broken seats into one area in the stadium (and section it off) and release more tickets over the next few weeks. I suppose it depends how many broken seats there are, is it dozens or is it hundreds?

| Official twitter account just announced 22,000 sold.
Taking into account the corporate allocation doubt there is more than 800 to 900 left on general sale

| Feel the club have really turned it round with getting involved in the community and the attendances are showing that.
Obviously the team doing well and the Field/French effect but a lot to do with Matty Peet imo.
Leigh away last year last game of the season had a huge away following.
Good Friday sell out.
Hull KR playoff game and Warrington CC game had brilliant atmospheres and good attendances for non ticketed games.
Massive following at Old Trafford.
Season tickets up on last year.
And now the WCC will sell out 6 weeks in advance.
Well done to all involved

Maybe Danson and co will be able to fix the issue in time and we see some more tickets made available a little later.

That's what they've done
And it's hundreds not dozens
Expect capacity to be around late 23s to 24k

| All this talk of turnstiles. I see Saints have added one to their centres in a panic signing. Thought they were getting Olam and end up wth Blake. Oh well...
Anybody know what date Penrith are planning to come over? Are they doing a proper prep for it, getting over early etc?

Should be a good game. Looks like you men are looking in good shape. I’ve been critical in the past but looking at that new stand and the squad it looks like the clubs finally delivering for the fans. Hopefully you’ll be back up soon causing us problem like you always do. Best of luck on the season

The new owner has been a revaluation for us, he has the financial clout which sadly our previous owner didn’t have and an astute business brain to take the club hopefully to where every Wakefield fan could only dream of 12 month ago.

Fantastic effort with still 6 weeks to go, just shows how much all the community work the club has done is paying off.
20k for Wire/Saints and a couple of 15k should be the aim for this season.

| Fox League headline below - more evidence that both the media and Penrith are putting the game under the spotlight. Its great in one sense as it's how it should be - it should be hyped up and sold as one of the most important fixtures. But if truth be told I fear for us a little bit - we'll have to raise the intensity a few levels. Definitely wish Morgan Smithies was on our teamsheet for it.
'Luai underwent shoulder surgery after the grand final, but teammates believe he is "giving himself every chance" to face Wigan on Feb 24'.

If you go to purchase WCC tickets through our site it now gives you the option of purchasing Latics v Reading tickets as well. Cool.

EDIT - Just seen the announcement that Ticketmaster have become official partners to both clubs.

Not overly impressed with this, Suppose the big question is will the club still be selling match day tickets from the ticket office as well ?
This could put a lot of casual supporters off, seems a backwards step to me after all the good community work the club's been doing.
