Anyone else renew online and get charged £2.50 for using a credit card?

Yes me too £2.50 each ticket cost me a fiver.

They shouldn't be allowed to do that. With credit cards fine, but debit cards are a direct bank transfer.

I think it is ridiculous that they charge for debit card's. I buy 4 season ticket's 3 are xmas present's so i would have been charged £10 if i had used my debit card. So i write a cheque out which i think is a pain. But no way will i pay £10 when i spend £789.

It's stupid really. There is no charge for using a debit card for matchday tickets, why for season tickets?

A lot of companies actually give discounts to customers paying with debit cards - there is still a minimal charge for debit transactions (about 15p IIRC, compared to 2-4% for credit cards). I work in online retail and all of our fees are calculated into the SP, there is zero transparency and it's a much better business model for it.



Business know most people have no choice but to pay it. And at the end of the day, a 1% fee is not a lot compared to other places. The worst is probably cinemas where the fee is about 30% of the cost of the ticket.



Paying for the privilege to purchase is profiteering, plain and simple. Either add it onto the overall cost of the ticket or don't charge it at all, it just es your customers off. Wigan will probably claim it's an admin or postage fee or something silly. Whereas it will most likely go straight to IFL's pension.

I got stung yesterday for 4 x £2.50, not to mention having to pay 10p a minute from a BT line and God only knows what from a mobile. I work away in the week and with summer holidays booked I had to wait until the fixtures were out before committing to renewing. It leaves a bit of a bitter taste when they're charging the debit card fee four times for one transaction especially in these tough economic times and in the run up to Christmas.

I'm not even sure whether or not it's legal. It's certainly not ethical.
