I would be delighted if we signed Bryce Cartwright to replace Bateman. If you can get his head right he would be a revelation in SL. When he is motivated he has all the skills in the book but he can be unbelievably lazy in defence when his head isnt right.

I was simply interested in knowing why you thought a prop was more likely.

If this turns out to be true I’d have mixed feelings.



He is clearly one of the top props in the World still and it would be great to see him in the Cherry and White. He would provide quality and also a bit of wow/entertainment factor for the club.



The issue of course would be the number of games he would miss due to his uncompromising style of play. No point in having your marquee player missing for 1/4 of the season. He also has a nasty habit of giving away penalties late in the tackle count, something that infuriates me and something Peet seems to have cleaned up massively in his time as coach.



No doubt Dan will be along to clarify everything shortly to say he is or isn’t close to signing but he may or may not do just to clarify the situation for everyone.

As much as I'd love it to happen, I can't see this being anything other than a rumour sadly.



That being said...



It's been a long, long time since we've had a forward like JWH and I'd love to see him in Cheery and White. Don't get me wrong, I like watching guys like French and Field, but not as much as a bit of biff and old school h0using.



The potential matchups are mouth watering imo and make my season ticket even more worthwhile. JWH vs Walmsley or Bentley. Watching him Vs Wire and the atmosphere it will generate etc.

Can't help but think the JWH rumour stems from an article on loverugbyleague where the clickbait headline says "Catalans interested in Jared Waerea-Hargreaves & Wigan respond to rumours" and they've not actually bothered to read the article in which the rumours Wigan respond to are the ones involving Bateman. Classic case of 2+2=5.
