| Quote NickyKiss="NickyKiss"The swap deal the other day with Hall for Dagger seemed crazy as an outsider, so it could be anything.'"
I’m of the opinion it was good business and made sense.
Trinity couldn’t go another 2 months without a specialist 1 especially with games against lower table teams coming up if they are to survive.
Their attack without the fullback pivot has been totally blunt.
They cannot look beyond this season so had to act if they are to survive.
They have 2 SL standard centres in Langi and Lynn so Hall became a commodity to use to get that 1.
I’m confident Tanginoa will be the next bargaining chip as they are well stocked with secondrows and in reality he is one of their few prized assets.
I think Wire is more likely with Mikael leaving next week to free up the quota spot but I wouldn’t be shocked to see him come to Wigan given our need for a right edge secondrow.

I posted this on the Wakey forum but i disagree. From a long term perspective you would want Hall over Dagger, but with the season going how it has so far and future things to come (IMG etc.) Wakefield have lost the privilege of long-term thinking and need to focus more on their Super League survival now.
They have (i think?) 3 other centres at the club currently, but only 1 true fullback who is injured for i think i read 7 more weeks? Dagger is far from a bad SL player (imo) and i have liked what i have seen from him in the past, he fills the spot they need and is capable of joining in the line as a pivot and creating, and finding the line himself, things they are struggling to do currently. Dagger fits their current short-term needs now in what is a crutial time for Wakefield where they need to start picking up wins to have a chance of staying up.
I understand why it must be frustrating from a Wakefield fan's perspective, but i can also see the reasoning why they have took the gamble.

| Quote jonh="jonh"Interesting line of thought on the Trinity page regarding Tanginoa.
The Chairman at Wakefield has said they have identified the need to bring in a middle and another unpopular swap deal could be on the cards.
My thought was Tanginoa to Warrington with Bullock going to them (total guess).
Someone just mentioned rightfully so that Mago was close to signing for Trinity in the offseason and pointed out we are desperate for a secondrow so I think we could be in the mix too.
Not sure how I feel about that.
Tanginoa is a great strike secondrow on his day but defence isn’t great and he does have an error in him.
All speculation on my part but I think it’s realistic.'"
I’d do this in a heartbeat. I don’t know much about Tanginoa but I do know a lot of Mago.
House of league podcast with Matt Shaw had a good explanation about why the Hall Dagger swap happened.
Can’t see them wanting Mago though

They are definitely looking for a prop.
They were very keen on Mago over the summer, talks held, and we were willing to let him go.
They went for Atoni though in the end and he has been less than useless so far.
I just wonder if Tanginoa is a Wigan type player.
He is a very dynamic ball carrier but does have an error in him.
Made SL dream team in his first year but flattered to deceive ever since not helped by him being moved to prop for a season and a half.

Do you think a swap deal could be a possibility?

Michael Carter has already insinuated on the podcast that a swap deal is on the cards for them. He hasn’t named players but because of the position they are in and their need to bring in players in certain positions they have had to make these deals swaps due to their reduced bargaining power.

That is correct mate. The new deals made them marquee players.

I would take a gamble. Mago offers very little.

The only thing Mago offers is a great offload, sucking in 5 players and offloading but he’s stopped doing that so I’m guessing he’s been told not to offload. In that case why sign him? His stats in the NRL were terrible and we knew he wasn’t a metre maker grafter so why try play him as such.

| Just an interesting tidbit from the James Graham podcast - George Burgess said that Tom was close to signing for Wigan in 2013 before he moved to South Sydney.
