| Quote jonh="jonh"Agree re Clarke. He’s had a few tough years but this season and particularly during this dire Wire spell I think he has still looked very dangerous.
I’d be disappointed if we did not go in for him given we were in the market for a 9 even if it was just to bump up his wages at Saints.'"
There are reasons other than playing ability that come into consideration regarding whether we go in for a player or not.

| Quote CobraCraig="CobraCraig"Ritson I expected more, I thought he’d be like Kevin Penny, a liability at times but also scoring some great long range try’s but he’s just been a bit meh. It is however a salary capped sport and you can’t have stats in every position, Whitley is okay but the big one is Clarke, he was brilliant at Cas and has done well at Warrington but maybe a little underwhelming considering how good he was at Cas, wouldn’t surprise me if he did really well at Saints and I would have taken him over Leeming personally.'"
Clarke is a very clever player but he doesn’t have the explosive speed he once had. After saying that, good players adapt as they get older.

Good. Give him the number 2 shirt and keep him for a few more years.

| Great stuff. I can’t help but be really pleased for him how it’s going. He was never a regular in the NRL, moved to London and worked hard, kept his head down here when he wasn’t playing every week and has taken his chance now and is playing some great stuff. The fact he seems a thoroughly decent lad makes it all the better.

Very happy with that, would like Ellis to be extended also and maybe Isa if he can prove his fitness when returning and I’ll be happy with the players we are retaining.

Yep give him the 2 for next year.
I however am glad it’s just a one year extension and not a long new deal.
He’ll be 29 at the end of next season. Getting on a bit for a winger and being a quota player he’s not someone I’d be devastated to move on if the quota spot was needed elsewhere.
Eckersley may be eyeing up that place, Tom Davies is off contract at the end of next year too if we could tempt him back. Younger and non quota.
That’s to worry about next year though in the mean time I’ll be enjoying the Lebanese Tank scoring tries. He was our stand out player last night.
I expect we’ll activate Ellis option next, maybe even a longer term contract?

| Quote Stu M="Stu M"2 from 3. Supposed to be more exciting than the current 3.
I'm obviously hoping that's not the case.'"
Wonder who. We’ll have at least two quota spots if Cust and Mago leave (which I expect).
Might have 3 if Isa retires, he’ll be 35 at the start of next year.
Jordan McLean, prop for the Cowboys is a realistic target for super league IMO. Starts most weeks for them but 32 this November. 6foot 5, 120kg. Think he’d complement our other props well.
Doesn’t fit our model of getting middle aged fringe NRL players who we believe we can improve however.

Well deserved. Worked hard and bided his time but when his chance came he grabbed it with both hands. Exactly the sort of example you want around the place. Better still, he's improving week on week and already has a good strike rate. Particularly impressed with his yardage plays too.

Watching the size and power of Catalans pack today, we need to recruit a couple of players who can help us match them and obviously the sizeable forwards of St Helens.
