| Surely we have cap space with the number of players leaving, and I imagine Bowen is one of if not the top earner at the club.i know contracts have been extended with higher wages being paid elsewhere but surely we are going to be way under the cap in 2016?

IL confirmed on backchat that Sam is our Marquee signing. Sam was originally signed as part of the cap but it was a 'squeeze'. Now IL has cap room, more so for improving existing players contracts/promoting players to the first team rather than bringing in new signings.
Shame, would love to see Hurrell at Wigan, I think he would be fantastic in SL, exactly what we need.

| I asked Warriors fans about Konnie on an NRL board I am a regular poster on. This was the response I got:
[iPlease, take him.
He's constantly being bounced to the Resies as punishment for error prone play, weak defense and slumps in form.
He gets promoted out of the Resies due to no other reason than head coaches are, by nature, perpetual optimists.
He's kind of a Chrisy Sandow in the respect. Of course Sandow is in the UK already because he knows all the NRL coaches have finally worked out the Sandow doesn't really give a rats .
That day too will dawn soon for Konnie.
He's also quite full of himself off field with bags of adverse publicity.[/i
Personally I'd be happy to see him here, though. I pointed out that I was confident Wigan wouldn't tolerate any bad off-field behaviour.

| Those reasons listed above may well be why there not been any rumours that we are after him.
If as previously suggested if he's big mates with Sam then the club will have head's up on him some time ago. They'll probably have asked Madge about him too.

| I see that HH has signed for Leigh. So he completed just 2 years of a 4 year contract. Still only 29 he is now playing Championship rugby for the foreseeable future, what a stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid decision it was to join Salford and leave Wigan from a rugby point of view.
Hope the money compensates for ruining his career.

How has he ruined his career?, it was probably a lifelong dream to play for home town club, he is also injury prone, he is not getting younger so why not go and play a few seasons in a less intense league, at the end of the day he won silverware with Wigan, he's fulfilled a boyhood dream, he's made a nice wedge and he's prolonging his career, he knew his time was up at Wigan and left on a high

By home town club did you mean Salford or Leigh? Either way they are both in this country and he was born in New Zealand.

| Willie Isa? Thought he'd been released by Widnes.
Never, ever Wigan standard.
Can't really believe Wigan would sign Isa and suspect it might not be true.

As I said Ted I no next to nothing about him other than Widnes didn't put up much of a fight to keep him.
I got the information from someone close to the club who could be winding me up to see how gullible I am!

| Signing Isa certainly wouldn't be worth getting upset about. He'd be another project signing the club obviously sees something in and he'd be on a low wage meaning he comes with next to no risk.
After our success with players like Flower, Clubb, Sarginson etc over the years I wouldn't lay in to him before seeing him. He may turn out to be more Lauaki or Dudson but why not roll the dice.

Like you say, Isa won't be anything more than a backup or project signing. I'd rather have him as our backup centre than have to pull Bateman or Joel out of the pack which in turn weakens us across the board.
That being said I do believe there's a need for an out and out quality centre. I personally don't see the merits in continuing to develop/ persevere with Sarge knowing he'll be gone in 12 months I'd personally like to see us cash in on him and bring in a decent recruit.

Nothing against the lad but i think he's going to struggle for a career at Wigan.
He's another one of those players who's a little on the small side and unfortunately for him he's got two similar type players in front of him. Faz and Bateman are both exceptional talents that will take some shifting. He's gonna have to be one hell of a player to dislodge those two as we've not got room for another one.

| Has anyone else heard that Gelling may have left the club?
A guy rang me to ask if I had heard anything about an hour ago. He isn't a wind up merchant so I suspect that there could be something in it.
Maybe Gelling has seen his harris after being told he won't be considered for selection for the remainder of the season?
I'm not a great fan of Gelling in the centres but thought and hoped he could do a job for us off the bench playing in the forwards.
Hope this is just someone with their wires crossed!

| It's only around 4 weeks ago that we re-signed him on a 4 year deal.
If he has gone then something's very wrong somewhere, either with him or the club.
Sure hope it aint true.

I do know that he was told he wouldn't be in the squad for Thursday on or before Monday so maybe a fall out occurred after that?
I don't know the guy but what you see of him you imagine he wouldnt throw a strop as he seems a very easy going kind of guy.
