| Charnley's agent using his RU knowledge to up his price I see.
Give us 6 months more of performances like Friday, after two years of underperformance, and I'm sure Lenegan will be willing to talk.

| [*u Quote Aboveusonlypie="Aboveusonlypie"I suppose it's always possible that Joe Burgess will have had enough of warming the bench at the Roosters and having to wait for injuries to Mitchell, Kenny-Dowall and Tupou just to get a game. That's a sure fire way to derail a promising career. From the England team to the Roosters reserves in a matter of months.
Tupou who plays left wing currently plays SoO for NSW and also played for Australia. He's only 24 and played every game last season so I wouldn't think that Joe will get too many more chances in his favourite spot. Mitchell is thought to be the new Greg Inglis, and from what I've seen that might not be a million miles away. Kenny-Dowall is a seasoned international, with a proven track record in the NRL. I think Joe copped a bit of flack from Trent Robinson about his defence (despite his two run-in try debut) after the Rabbitohs game so the chances of a quick return to the team are poor to nil.
I've got to think it isn't Joe's best decision to leave Wigan at this stage of his career when he needs to be playing regularly.'"
Burgess was one in my head along with Carney. If Burgess doesn't get many games between now and the end of the season he'd surely consider it. I suppose a lot will depend on how he settles as well.
Going off Friday Charnley would be a pretty big loss but going off the form of 2014 and 2015 he'd be no loss at all. I think it's the nagging belief that he may be on a big contract that makes me not really worry about any potential exit.

| Isn't Josh OOC end of this season?
So if Sale want him for the start of their season it will mean a fee.
If they wait until our season is over then they get him for nothing.

I'm afraid I find it hard to worry about any player who only seems to buck up when there's a contract renegotiation in the wind.
It may sound naive of me, but this is not really about loyalty to a club. Players are professionals and their loyalty is for sale - that's the way it goes and it's fair enough.
But professional RL is not just about how much an athlete you are, it's also about how much you're prepared to put your body on the line. If you'll only do that when you're looking for your next deal then you aren't much use to your team. I can't 100% say that's the case with Josh, but we've seen remarkably little commitment from him these last two seasons.

I think most including me would agree. His attitude has left a lot to be desired these past couple of years. His commitments seem to have been based more away from the rugby field at times.
It's good to see him playing well so far this year but you do wonder why the sudden turn around.

He must love the bloke if he's missed him that much he's playing better just because he's turning up to train (or rehab in Tomkins case) in the same place every day
In all seriousness you get the sense Charnley would stay if we're prepared to give him a contract his performances over the past two years probably haven't warranted. It was a regular occurance at Wigan back before Maguire came in to see players suddenly come to life when they reached the last year of their deal. Call me a cynic but he seems like Charnley is the first in a while to have done this! It makes it sound like he can't win I suppose because ultimately he's being criticised for now playing well but if he has a big year this year then fair enough, let him go and try his hand elsewhere if we can't match any offers from Union.

| Just a thought but this is the first season for a while that Josh as had a full off season. If he as been playing with injuries then this is the first time hes had a proper chance to recover due to England involvement. Like i say just a thought.

Hopefully he'll have a full season in which to prove us doubters wrong. I'll be very happy if he does.

| One day our players will learn that a move to RU and NRL could finish your career. If Charnley goes there would be no way back for him here. Mossop was very lucky to get a second shot, Sam T is what he is and we would have been fools not to try again. Currently watching Cowboys v Roosters and if Budgie can't get into that woeful team then he has no hope over there either.
Leualai is the only player who has made a success of it.
To be honest, as much as i have enjoyed watching Charnley play, he has gone so far backwards he is at mid table level anyway now. There are so many better options out there. I don't think he will be missed. We haven't signed a winger for a long time but i don't think anyone is ready to step up this time so it will be interesting to see what unfolds.

A bit unfair to Burgess, whilst the Roosters are not playing well the backs he is up against are very good players Tupou (SO and international), SKD( NZ international) and Mitchell being called the new Inglis that is some stiff opposition for a place
