I agree, Sam apart. The days of big name signings are generally over due to the cash in the NRL, our policy to sign projects is all well and good however it doesn't really put bums on seats more adds to the lethargy that is knocking around the club at the moment.
I hope the club are intent on making a statement when it comes to signings to replace Charnley.
Tom Johnston was outstanding again today for Wakefield. As I have said before I hope he remains at the Wildcats, however if he comes on the market the lad would be an outstanding signing. Outside of that we need to be going to the NRL.

| There is at least one winger with decent NRL experience currently languishing in English RU.
I refer of course, to Cooper Buna at Newcastle (?). Left winger, too.

He was good when he played in the NRL, haven't seen him play for years.

| If Blake Green could kick goals it wouldn't be any sort of question. I don't think I've seen a Wigan halfback as limited as Smith currently is. He looks crippled by a lack of confidence at the moment and you feel it's time for him to be given a break from the side.
If we could get a goalkicking winger I'd be all over Green like a rash.

| Who is our third-choice kicker after Josh? Powell? Can't Sam kick them? At the Warriors Shaun Johnson kicked the goals but Sam always took the restarts.
At the end of the day, I'd rather have a good competent half and a 'make-do' kicker than the other way round.
I agree about the confidence thing. As I've said before, Smith was never great, but he often used to be good. Now it looks like a parting of the ways would be the best thing for club and player.

| I think Powell is third choice at the moment but he's unlikely to be playing many minutes when McIlorum is back and obviously Charnley is leaving. Unless Sam Tomkins has made incredible strides he's nowhere near good enough because he was abysmal before he left.
I agree that I'd take a good half who can't kick over a poor one who can kick a bit but we can't get ourselves in to a situation where Sam Tomkins is our only starting option.

| Well then surely Charnley will do for this season. Next season hopefully we'll have some new blood on the roster anyway.
If Blake Green goes back to HKR, after Richards ending up at Perpignan, that will seem like another kick in the teeth.
