| I fully believe Sarg will nail a starting shirt in the NRL.
Certain elements of his gave really suit that comp. His fitness and willingness to put in the hard yards will see him I am sure a regular starter.
Turner is the personification of average. There is not 1 facet of his game that indicates he has a shot at being a regular NRL player. He has no pace, doesn't make big yards, just a jack of all trades master of non. Not suited to the NRL at all.

Quote Itchy Arsenal="Itchy Arsenal"I would be amazed if Wigan ever took Sarginson back. His defence is poor and he cannot pass in fact for me he is the worst passer of a ball I have ever seen for a back at Wigan. His one strength is work rate which for the game now is enough to guarantee some players a spot particularly in Aussie where to have no brain or finesse is a prerequisite for selection.
Sarginson will not be missed by the Wigan management and there will probably be a queue offering to drive him to the airport.'"

Hiya Jukes. Ive been on here on a pretty regular basis. Still stand by that we won't win it even when (if we ever do!) get to near a full team. We have obviously improved since ST started playing however, even with him back I just don't see us as a good rugby team.
We aren't a good team but what we do have is a great team spirit which in a very poor competition can and obviously does get you results. Wire and to a lesser degree Hull haven't kicked on as I thought they would do and Catalan can't buy a win at the moment. Saints have been very poor at times but still wouldn't be surprised to see them grab 4th spot and as they say in a knockout competition it depends who turns up on the day/night.
Still happy to have a bet that we won't win it or get to the final. Not sure what the odds are the moment as I genuinely haven't checked for several weeks? I did check (pm) a couple of times but don't think you contacted me via pm to confirm the bet?
If you did I apologise and we can still sort something out
I think the competition that the club wants and probably needs to win is the CC.

| Sarginsons work rate is incredible. He will go just fine in the NRL for me. He had been an excellent signing for Wigan and I can't understand some of the bad press he's had during his time at Wigan. I hear some people knock his passing game yet he's our top assist maker so far this season.

I think he's way to small and not strong enough to make it in the NRL and we all know what his defence is like.
If you put Sargison heart and attitude into Jordan Turner then that would be decent player.

If he hadn't visibly been trying to find a way out of the club, he'd probably have had less ... that never sits well with Wiganers, someone using their club as a springboard to what they see as greater things.
But all that aside, he's rarely displayed great RL ability, as you surely can recognise.
Puts himself about, lots of energy ... not a great deal else.

| The NRL generally these days relies on a top pair of halves, good hooker and good 1. The rest tend to be hard working line runners.
Centres tend to be converted wingers of back row forwards.
Work ethic energy and fitness will see Sarg right over there.
I would put a couple if quid on the fact the Sarg will not make it crew are the same saying Tomkins can't tackle or take a high ball, ie those that don't actually watch the NRL.

| I am in the 'Turner and Sarginson will both do bugger all' camp
Turner is just woeful however i think that is Cunningham's fault mostly for taking him out of position constantly. Sarginson is a woeful tackler and attacker. I was delighted when the news came in that he was leaving. FWIW i think his best position is FB but that is a closed shop around these parts. As previously stated, his passing is diabolical, his tackling is weak and when he does break a tackle in attack he stops to go sideways and run laterally. Sideways Sarge won't be missed from this household.

| Haven't seen the Warriors' latest game yet, but I remarked on the other thread that Tommy L looked pretty good at 7 lately. Other teams have 7s who can and do score tries (like Sneyd and Sandow), why can't we?
And on recruitment from the NRL generally, our rivals have picked up players like Sandow, Minichiello, Pritchard, Miller, Luke Burgess, Feleti Mateo.
We've bought the Kiwi Ryan Bailey.

Not sure if that's tongue cheek but at least give him time before judging FPN,he's not played for 3 months prior to coming over here,he did okay imo apart from the brain fart towards the end.
I would say buying FPN,Burgess and TL is pretty good NRL recruitment for next year.

| Not especially tongue in cheek, and based on seeing him in the NRL rather than his two appearances for Wigan. I stand by my view than we've recruited poorly. Frank Pritchard offers everything FPN does, and is a much better footballer to boot.
Great to have Joe back, I agree, and I have no problem with TL, but in playing terms he can only be a very short-term option.

| I read a few Hull fans saying Pritchard has been pretty poor this season so it doesn't sound like we've missed out on anything too special. I'm pretty pleased with FPN so far. He's clearly lacking some match sharpness but that'll come.
Aw for our recruitment overall I think it's looking pretty good. I don't have an issue with the squad. We could do with some luck with injuries and for the players to stop compounding the injuries by getting themselves in to disciplinary scrapes.

He's run the ball well so far and defensively he's been pretty good. Like I said he's clearly lacking match fitness so he's going to get better as the weeks go by.
To throw it back to you, what have you seen that you don't like? (Presuming you don't like what you've seen). I was miffed with his lack of discipline on Friday so he needs to watch that.

You've said it really; fitness which will come over time. The bigger issue is his discipline, I would have hoped after getting the boot at Raiders he would have learnt. Sadly he clearly hasn't tackling LMS off the ball and attacking him. This is a seasoned pro we're talking about, not some angry kid looking to prove a point.
