| Quote Last Son of Wigan="Last Son of Wigan"You've said it really; fitness which will come over time. The bigger issue is his discipline, I would have hoped after getting the boot at Raiders he would have learnt. Sadly he clearly hasn't tackling LMS off the ball and attacking him. This is a seasoned pro we're talking about, not some angry kid looking to prove a point.'"
I think there is an element of him trying to prove himself because he'll want to do that at a new club but he needs to do that in the correct manner. It's superb to have a prop with a real aggressive streak but he's got to put that aggression in to his running and tackling.
Somebody called him the NRL version of Ryan Bailey but in fairness to Bailey he wouldn't do what FPN did on Friday. He's sly and is more likely to wind players up in the style of LMS then to do that. It was brainless but hopefully it's just him losing it a bit trying to make a mark and he'll learn from it.

I don't think we'll really be able to judge him until part way through next year.

Exactly, it's mental that people are writing him off already.

Has to make an impact at the start of next season imo.
I posted a couple of weeks ago that mid season signings are notorious for not hitting the ground running (Sandow being the perfect example).
Let his settle and have a pretty season and then judge.

I've not heard anyone write him off. Just comment on how he's been so far.

Go back a page, and you'll see he's the "kiwi Ryan Bailey" apparently.

OK, guilty as charged! I said that on the basis of being generally unimpressed with what I've seen of him in the NRL. If he turns out well for the Warriors, I'll be as pleased as anyone. I stand by my view that our rivals have been rather more, well, adventurous in their pick-ups from down under, whereas Wigan have looked for brawn.

| Frank-Paul was signed as the enforcer everyone wanted, and he is that, he takes no crap and is solid as a rock.
He hasn't played for some time at first grade due to Canberra Raiders wanting him off their books.
Before his fall out with the Raiders Management he was a star signing for them.
He's another Hock type character that needs a disciplined coach.
We don't have a coach like that.
He could spend most of his time banned or he could spend it blasting through defences.
Depends which coach runs our club.

Fair enough, you've watched him more than I have then. From what I've heard though he was a beast when he was at the Roosters; we all know that Super League is a level below the NRL though so regardless of how things have gone for him the past few months at Canberra, he could be an excellent player for us.
I like your last point btw, one of the main complaints I've seen on this board since I've been on here is that we haven't got enough size and power in our forwards. We proceed to sign a player that fits that profile and all of a sudden we've signed the wrong type of player. Plus we have signed two other players you know, do they fit the brawn category also?
What signings have other clubs made from the NRL lately that are more adventurous than those two in your opinion? Segeyaro I don't think counts as they had to swap Hardaker to get him and he might not even stay beyond this year.

It wasn't a go at you (written text sometimes doesn't get the point across). I'm simply pointing out how successful Bailey has been regardless of him being an average player (I know you didn't make that point by the way) I think FPN is a far better player and the comparison is an unfair one but should he end up with a medal collection resembling that of Bailey's we'd all be happy enough.

Sandow, Minichiello, Stewart, Gidley, Carney...
And I could add a second tranche who aren't of the standard of those five, but would still almost certainly improve our squad: Cuthbertson, Miller, Kelly...
I'd prefer Segeyaro to an even in-form Hardaker myself, but I agree his stay in SL may well be short.

Even Pritchard and Fonua could be added to that list

Fair enough, he's probably too old to catch up to Bailey's trophy haul though, I think we'd have to win the treble for the next four years!

I definitely agree on Sandow, he's everything Smith isn't, and maybe Carney. The rest I don't think we need and/or have better options. Could have done with all of them this year though with our injury problems.

| Depends how much better you think T Burgess is than Crosby, I suppose.
My snap view would be 'a bit, but not that much'.

| Crosby is a strange one tbh, in my opinion he was our best prop last year but ever since he's come back from that surgery at the end of last year he's looked unfit and quite poor in all honesty, getting to a point now where's he's becoming a sick note as well, sad really but what with Flower Nuuausala Clubb and Tautai and Bretherton all being there next year, (Mossop maybe) then it wouldn't be a massive shame to see him go and especially not for Burgess in exchange

I wouldn't judge him on this years form tbh. What's he played? 5 or 6 games maybe (maybe not even that). He's been totally disrupted by injuries this season.
I do however think we can judge him over the last few seasons and what I see is a lad that frustrates the life out of me. In fact I'm not sure I've come across a player that's frustrated me quite as much. I think he could be a top top player but he just drifts through too many games. When he's on he is a superb player but he's just so inconsistent. He reminds me a little of Mike Cooper during his time at Wire and much like him he may need a move over to the NRL to make him realise that potential.

Fully agree, the lads got so much potential but often just doesn't live up to it, somewhere like the panthers or tigers would be a good suit for him in the NRL, give him a few years down there to really get the best out of him, and if he did return I bet we'd see a better player for it

I always remember that Saints game at home where he was beastly and scored a great try but I shouldn't be able to remember single games like that. He should be producing that more often. He's a good size for a prop and seems to have a good engine.
I've always hoped that one day we'd see him kick on here but we're still waiting.
