| Quote Glynola="Glynola"I would be astonished had we actually made an offer to Long.
That said IL does seem to be trying to bring back some Wigan born players.
I would now not be too surprised if the likes of Terry Newton will be back next year.'"

| Quote Cruncher="Cruncher"I keep hearing this, but I can't see how it would make sense.
It's not just Terry's age, or the fact that he's a jaded shadow of his former self - it's the fact that we don't need him. We already have three hookers.
I still think we attach too much importance to having "Wiganers" in the squad. Sure, it's desirable, but it shouldn't be the main critiera we apply. In fact, it should be well down the list.'"
I agree there seems no particular need
It's just I sense that IL's recruitment emphasis is shifting very much back towards British, and in particular Wigan born.
This is no doubt helped by the fact it seems tougher to get a visa for overseas players than it used to be.
Which is fine for me if supplemented by top quality additional players.

But not a 32 year old, best days behind him, Wigan-hating SH.

| I was suprised when i heard the news that Hull had actually signed him, expecially for two years. After their injury problems i really thought that Hull would view this as too big a risk but time will tell.
It will be interesting to see Long out of the comfort zone he has at Saints as it often was whenever he played for Great Britain.
It worries me that Wigan even made any kind of offer, sounds quite desperate.

| How would people feel if we signed Brett Finch?
Potentially he could be a great signing but he could also be an average one.

It doesn't me because I don't believe it - for the reasons stated above.

Perfect for us in my opinion, good age, good organiser, hard worker.

| Finch is a very good player. Not a 'great' player but getting someone like that is increasingly difficult. Very good passer and organiser of teams. Look at how well the Storm are going now he is in there controlling their left hand side.
Not sure why the Storm are not trying to retain him. Cap issues?

Completely over shadowed by Cooper Cronk. Finch often goes missing in games and seems more than happy to take a back seat as Cronks runs the show.
Played well in his first game or two, drifted since then.
Maybe a troublemaker, by next season he'll have had 3 clubs in 2 seasons, not good going.
Released by Eels, then released by Storm.
Pity Cronk isn't an option!

| Is it worth considering Braith Anasta? The arrival of Todd Carney at the Roosters may put his position in question and he seems to have been overlooked for rep RL now.
