Wigan confirm signing of French Forward





In the run up to the 2016 First Utility Super League Grand Final, Wigan Warriors announce exclusively to 2016 Season Ticket Holders the signing of explosive French forward, Romain Navarrete on a two-year contract.



22-year-old Navarrete, who will join Wigan ahead of the 2017 season, made his Super League debut for Catalans in 2016 playing in 11 games in total and capped a fine season with selection into the France squad for the international against England in October.

22y/o, he's been a standout for the reserves team in the French league for the last couple of years and was promoted to the Super League squad when the French season finished this May, I think he's made about 10 SL appearances. Aggressive forward who would definitely suit Wane's style of play, I'd compare him to Ben Flower when he was at Crusaders.

Clubb is to undergo further surgery early in November. It's such as shame if this ends his career. He was really starting to look like a top class prop. Putting rugby aside, I just hope he can make a recovery that means he live an ordinary life, even if he can't play rugby any more.

Understandable if Crosby does go. I like his aggression and think he has had some good games this year after a poor 2015, but at 25 he will probably want a spot in the 17 every week when we have tons of competition at prop with Tautai, Flower, Clubb, Nuuasala and Sutton all ahead of him, plus Lockers potentially being used more as a prop next year if he carries on. Then there is Mossop too who I don’t rate these days but still will probably get picked when fit, and Navarette, who we won’t have signed to play in the reserves.
