| Quote CobraCraig="CobraCraig"Those stats shock me as everytime I have seen him his kicking hasn't been great and at times others have kicked instead of him.

You make a good point. Every time Ryan Hall pulls on an England jersey he proves his class. Yet he is NEVER in the top try scorers at the end of the season. Leeds just don't play expansive rugby. They have two good centres but they aren't great at putting their winger away.
Whoever kicks for Wigan has to convert from way out most of the time. Escare is a poor kicker and is not the answer. We need to find someone.

| Quote Grimmy="Grimmy"I thought Sutcliffe was a stand off? Would that mean Leuluai to 9 and McIlorum out?'"
Disregarding Sutcliffe for a second, its long been an opinion of mine that this season may well be the last for McIlorum at Wigan. Escare (prior to his injury) was going excellent at FB and for me it would, and still could be, a good reason to move Sam back into the halves alongside Williams. This leaves TL without a position in the halves which means he pushes to hooker. At hooker we've got a very good developed hooker in Powell and for me TL is a decent back up from the bench.
This then leaves McIlorum in the cold. As good as he is/has been, I genuinely think his best days are gone and we've better options available to us.

| Sutcliffe is contracted to the end of next year so we would have to pay a fee to get him next year and I'm not sure he's worth it.

Leeds Rhinos have been boosted by the news young playmaker Liam Sutcliffe has signed a new three-year deal with the Super League club.
The 19-year-old, who was promoted to number 18 in the club’s squad numbers for 2015, is now tied to the Headingley Carnegie club at least until the end of the 2017 Super League season.

He's just had a year off, only now starting to get his fitness back. Let's see how he goes for the rest of the year. It will be harder, with all the changes going on around, but I back him to come good.
Also, he's got his eye off the ball with all his Testimonial commitments this year.

It's a shame because of how long he has been with us but I'm inclined to agree. I watch Hodgson/Roby/Clark then look at McIlorum and can't help but feel we may be missing a trick at 9. Thinking where he would end up is sometimes a guide, I don't think Wire/Saints/Leeds/Hull FC would be falling over themselves to get him on board.

Exactly, it seems to be only doe eyed tinted glasses wearing fans that rate him so highly, apart from his ferocious tackles he offers very little to the side, Powell is by far the better number 9 at the club

I can understand their disdain for thinking it - it didn't quite sit right with me saying it - but going to Grimmys comment about Hull/Warrington/Saints/Leeds I have to agree that they wouldn't be falling over themselves for him.
You're correct in what you say about what he offers too, I think Powell is the more agile and creative hooker who can make things happen from the ruck. His tackling his improved substantially as well, his shot on Ashton Sims was incredible.
McIlorum has been a superb player for us, tough and aggressive. However these past few seasons have shown that we don't really need him as we used to. He'll remain in the SL no doubt, Leigh/Widnes/Salford seem to be the likeliest destinations.

I'm also inclined to agree. Powell is for me, the first choice hooker, with Ganson showing loads of promise. TL of course, can provide back up. So that might leave MMc struggling to get regular game time.
He might prove me wrong and rip it up for the rest of the season, and if he does, I won't be disappointed.

Same here. It would leave an interesting headache for SW though I'd imagine!
