Throughout my time working with the Juniors one criticism has always been leveled at the Wigan club for the way they are brought through and that was that they got it too easy, they got the best juniors in the system are hyped up and are given the best facilities, kit etc and treated too well, they lose the desire and the will to earn everything they get.



I hope and think the the new system will ensure that this is a thing of the past.

I think this deal allows Kyle to increase his worth over the next few years and then really push for a big deal from either Rugby League or Union. It's good that he'll stay in league but I think we can all see what his management have planned.

Would have felt more comfortable with a 3 year deal. Good we as a sport have him though even if it is only for the short term. Hope someone even Saints can sign him up on a longer deal once this one is out.

If the SKY quotes are right and he's signed up until the end of 2011 that's in effect a one year extension. He was already ooc 2010.

He'll no doubt be getting a fair size pay increase which is deserved but neither Saints nor he are committing themselves to a long term deal.

Why the uncertainty? Is it Saints who are unsure at what stage he'll be in two years or, where they will be then?

A 2 year deal is quite a worry from a Saints and English rugby league point of view. That contract screams to me he's thinking of a move somewhere down the line and has Martin Offiah's influence written all over it. He knows he won't make much money by letting his players sign up to long term deals with their original clubs.



This deal makes our 5 year deal we've got Sam Tomkins tied into look all the more impressive and is a huge weight off everybody's mind.

I don't see any of Offiah's clients ever being a one club man thats for sure.

I hope I'm wrong but a mere 2 yr deal will only result in his eventual defection to RU being even bigger news, assuming he progresses as he should. It's a shame he isn't on a 4 or 5 yr deal. Could the fact that he's not a local lad have a bearing?

Maybe Saints didn't offer enough to make him want to sign for longer / Offiah wanted to much for a longer deal?

Exactly, we can all see what's going to happen it's just a matter of time.



I'm with you Nicky it won't be long until rumors start surfacing once again about Eastmond's future. All Kyle needs now are two years of scintillating form and he'll then be able to name his price, whether that's in League or Union will probably come straight down to who'll offer the most.



Are we all glad about S Tomkins contract situation or what.

It's a real weight off the mind for everyone in the short term. I suppose when it comes down to it though a contract means little if Union come calling with the cash. No club could afford to turn down huge money for a player but we needn't worry at the moment.



Saints on the other hand.............

All sorts of rumours went around the place. One I heard was that Stanton was promised X amount of games and never got it, went in a huff & ended up at Leigh.
