It would seem to me that if you reward a team for losing by less than 12 you should also reward a team for winning by more than 12



Hopefully they never do this in SL, it seems to reward losers more than winners

It's typical of the RFL thougn, isn't it? Continuing to tinker with a mechanism that isn't broken, in the vain hope that some utopia will eventually be reached wherein everyone somehow reaches the end of the season with only a couple of points between them. The ultimate 'level playing field'. Because losing just isn't fair on the losers.

I've always like the idea of bonus points.

My preference would be for good defence.

Bilko's chart doesn't appear to change the league table all that much apart from Hudds going to fourth. Wigan are still top, Wire and Saints 2nd and 3rd, Quins are still bottom.

I do like the idea but it doesn't change much though.

That is what struck me immediately - how little difference it really makes - one or two slight changes over the real table but the top teams are still the same. Even at the bottom of the table things are very similar.



I would argue that this is a good reason for not introducing the bonus system to SL, why make things more complicated for so little difference.

Wigan in top place have 4 bonus points. Bradford in 9th place are 611 points worse off on points difference but they have 7 bonus points!

Catalans in 12th place have 9 bonus points

Do we really need a bonus points system in Super League? Although they have it in Yawnion, I think the League teams place most emphasis on scoring tries aswell as defence anyway.

I think it's pointless (see what I did there?).

Am I the only one who thinks that regardless of whether or not a bonus point system is a good idea or not, being rewarded for losing by the equivalent of two converted tries is ridiculous. If a team loses by 2, 4 or even 6 points its pretty close but 12 seems ridiculous to me.

I think it's a great idea and I wish it was in use in SL, although I would change it to 8 points or less.



It makes teams fight hard for every point in a game. It stops a team thats losing by a few scores capitulating or bringing off a few key players if they decide the game is gone.



IMO it would stop some cricket scores.

i would amend the system the bonus point is awards to this:



win 2pts







bonus point to winning side for a difference of 13 or more



bonus point to losing side for a difference of 12 or less

IMO its a bad idea, Losers should never be rewarded, you lose you lose end of.

If you are looking at bonus points perhaps we should go the whole hog and have a



1 point for loosing by less than 6 points

1 point for scoring 5 or more tries



and finnaly a further bonus point if a team manages to nill another

and still have 2 points for a win



this would result in a great team performance as there as at Hull would reward the team by 4 points.
