The fact that 96 people went to a football match full of excitement and expectation and ended up dying is a horrible tragedy and something that every football fan of a certain age will remember vividly.



But where's the memorial to the recently dead of the Ivory Coast? Where's the Bradford fire memorial? Heysel? Ibrox?



Nah, let's just forget those disasters and instead focus on the billionth remembrance of the Hillsborough tragedy.

Justice for the families of the 96 who died. A proper independent inquiry into the tragedy, so that the authorities in question are held accountable for these deaths, and the real truth can be published for all to see.

So the 20th anniversary of the Bradford fire was also given a memorial thread on rlfans? The Ivory Coast tragedy happened less than two weeks ago, but that thread seems to be missing.

I appreciate what you're saying but I never understand why people make this point. The fact that other people have suffered in similar circumstances does not make it any less significant on this occasion.



As has been noted above, it could have happened to any set of supporters, particularly in that ground. I'm going to a football match tonight - crazy to think I might not come back because of something that happened at the ground.



It's inexplicable if there has never been an independent enquiry. Inexplicable.

I have been fascinated by this event for a long time, trying to do a lot of research on it, try and get photos, video, testimonies of the events and from the people who were there to witness it. It was a tragic event and something that should have never happened, and never happen again

To be honest we will never get the real justice that we want which would be David Duckinfield to go down, even the case of Anne Williams who was seeking to win a new Inquest into the death of Kevin William her son does not look like it will happen, after hillsborough the coroner decided to put a 3.15 p.m. cut off point, the reason he argued that the victims would have been dead or brain dead by that time. No evidence was heard after that time.



Off duty police officer Derek Bruder found a pulse at 3.37 p.m St Johns Ambulance woman took over Miss Martin found a pulse and after resuscitation Kevin's ribs started to move so thinking she had him alive, she picked Kevin up in her arms. It was then that Kevin opened his eyes, murmured the word "Mum", slumped back and died in her arms at 4.00 p.m.
