| Quote Carneys Pint="Carneys Pint"Would say Coral, Stan James, Hills are the best firms to bet with. Would advise you open up at least 8 or 9 accounts and just take the best price on your fancies - don't stick to just one firm as taking under the odds is like paying £1.40 for a loaf of bread in Tesco when you can get the same loaf next door for £1.20 - why bother?
Skybet are good for RL handicaps on the lower league stuff and Bet365 are good unless you fancy getting more than £25 in which case you're screwed
Get a Betfair account too and read up on Asian Handicaps - the future of football betting.
If you need any advice etc. PM me.
Good Luck
Martin'"
If I was limited to 3 I think I would go Blue Square, SkyBet and Paddy Power but as you say get as many as you can....use the free bets they give you to start off then bet at whoever is giving the best odds.
I think in terms of settling quickly Stan James are possibly the best even in the middle of the night and they also let you use your winnings if some of your permed bet is already in the bag but the rest has yet to be decided/settled.

| Quote upthecats="upthecats"Which most of us can only dream about.
At the end of the day if you're a successful punter you will pay for it, with charges on sites like betfair and by being banned from the bigboys.
As long as you're seen to be adding to their profits you'll be ok.
I'd suggest Coral for football, it seems 9 times out of 10 when I pick an acca out and work out which bookie pays the most it's Coral.
Finally on a betting note, just a mention for the absolute master that is Sir Mark Prescott, is there a better trainer for placing horses than Sir Mark?
He's done it again with Point Of Light... 5 wins in the space of 18 days, also Brett Vale hacked up tonight (costing me dear as I had the runner up) and looks another to keep on the right side of. The man's an absolute genius...'"
Brett Vale got a shocking ride last time out by the same apprentice who rode yday (Rosie Jessop) - SMP must have told her she was on Secretariat. Be wary of apprentices on front-runners, with the exception of Freddie Tylicki, David Probert and Amy Ryan the rest are pretty poor at pacing a race and just general tactics when not tracking more senior jockeys.
Would also look out for Isabel Tompsett at Newton Abbott - she has a staggering record their and horses FTO for Tim Vaughan (oh and if they drift steer well clear).
Special mention for York next week - should be a good meeting and IMHO the favourite in the Ebor is a penalty kick.

| Widnes @ 9/4 looks good tonight v Barrow
+ 8 for the cautious on the handicap but in my book they should be nearer 6/4 on the 80 mins betting.
Widnes seem to rise to the occasion on TV and it is hard to forget how much better the Vikings were in the Northern Rail Cup Final.
Barrow have scored for fun in the last two weeks but this is a different ball game and I think they might get found out tonight.

Not sure, we've lost a few games on TV this year. Our away form is shocking, and we've lost Penny and Pickersgill to Wire this week.

Bit like roulette, isn't it? Of course, you have an element of skill in deciding who will win, but if you take RL handicap betting as an example and it's really difficult.
You tried it?

Been a big fan of Freddie for some time now, a great up and coming jockey and looks a thoroughly nice lad aswell, be interesting to see how he goes when he rides his claim out (which can't be long now) I think he'll do fine though and become one of the top jocks around. Watched him closely at Pontefract the other week in the paddock and he comes across as a great lad, very chatty and smiley with the stable staff and owners, a real breath of fresh air and totally different to some of the miserable gits who were there like Michael Hills for one
Paul Pickard is another young claimer who is really starting to catch my eye too, well worth a second look.

Good call mate, shame I didn't see earlier or I would definitely had a tickle. Now Canford Cliffs that is some animal and still an outstanding bet for the guineas next year IMO. Richard Hannon can't seem to do any wrong this season with his 2 year olds seemingly having winner after winner and Canford Cliffs is probably the best 2 year old I've ever seen.

An interesting one and would be extremely tempting to cash in towards bets 5 and 6, but I'm gonna give this a proper go and will post selections and any possible progress on this thread.

Blyth Spartans on Saturday for me at evens looks as good a bet as you will find.
I will try that and get myself off to a good start (already on at 11/10 in a seperate bet but happy enough to go in at Evens now the odds have been cut).

Not had a punt for ages till this tonight...I put 20 quid on magnus thrax and had 20 quid on Igyougo in the 7:30 on the toon so im well up this evening. May be tempted to stick 40 on the next evens pick and try and follow this through...either way ill still be playing with the bookies money.

| Ummm am I missing something here? Why are Warrington 4/1 to beat Wigan? I see their squad but its still reasonable. This is one of the biggest value bets I have seen for a long time IMO. This is an 11/4 or 5/2 shot max in my eyes. 4/1 is a MASSIVE price. Why Wigan are 1/6 I will never know. The handicap is an absolute steal for those playing at Even money but seeing as I'm skint I've gone for the Warrington win.

Agree with you about Paul Pickard - his sister Frankie was a decent jockey a couple of years ago but I think she's packed it in now. Look out for Phillip Mitchell's youngest son Freddie too, riding awesome in pony races at the moment so worth following when he turns pro.
Don't agree about Canford Cliffs - he looks every inch the full package at the moment and others will catch up to him, one of the best 2yo colts I've seen. Still rate the ex-Ward filly abovehim though - just a shame that Godolphin have got their hands on her

| If I was having a bet in the Wigan-Wire match, I'd be on Wigan -10. Wire are without 9 players who would be in the 17 and taking into account the amount of ale they'll ahve consumed this week, I'd say Wigan look decent bets.

I was of this opinion but I try to keep away from backing/laying Wigan as bias tends to creep in.
