| Miserere, 7:30 Beverley, is in from around 40/1 to as low as 9/1 in places. It's form leaves a lot to be desired but somebody must know something about it as it's gone in at just about everybody bookmaker.

| Good stuff EPG - she's still in the decs for the race but not heard anything else. There's always a chance they'll go for something easier given the run the other day (not terrible but not amazing) or the Group 1 Pretty Polly Stakes over 10f at The Curragh on Irish Derby weekend (end of June).

Went to Beverley tonight.
Only just seen this but backed it of my own accord after a good write up in the local paper which stated the trainer worked whole year towards this race and had had a 20/1 winner in same race 2 years ago and would go well again.
Headed the field 2 or 3 furlongs out but seemed to fade quite quickly.
Liked the look of Mawjoodah in same race for CE Brittain, seemed to run very green but lively at 50's+ on course. Worth another look
Not Frankies biggest fan but won his two races by a street. In particular Robens Rock.
Last race Leader of the land hacked up. I had longest traveller Corr Point for Jamie Osborne but Leader of the Land was the most comfortable winner I had seen for some time under Ted Durcan.
Mister Hughie was well backed on course earlier in the night, punters were lumping on at evens only for it to fall a furlong out leaving a 25/1 winner in front, leaving all but the bird in front of me who'd had a tenner on the winner at 25's crying into their Beverley beer not for the first time.

Debated going down myself. Not too far away from here. Would of been on that Robens Rock. Caught my eye when i had a look earlier. I Miserere (sic?) because it was a significant mover not because of it's form. Might be worth keeping an eye on if another gamble comes for it.

Yeah, I only had it because of the write up, that fact that it was a significant mover was not as apparent on course (well not to me anyway). Went from about 25's to 16's unless I am mistaken. Worth another look like you say.
You'd have been right with Robens Rock, pretty much had time to look around, wave and sign autographs in the last furlong. Alas I was on the 2nd horse...agan.

| Another one like yesterday that has seen money come for it. Cedar Falls, 6.50 Wetherby has gone in from as big as 125/1 to 12/1 in places. Probably do nothing but thought I'd let you chaps know. In the same race Laybach has gone from 33/1 to as little as 7/2.

| Laybach was a proper through the floors type gamble EPG - it will drift on the shows, expect an SP of about 10-12/1 IMO. These sort of gambles always do as the bookmakers are keen to lay them on course.

Both did nothing. I don't get the info you guys do these days, my dad had a mate in Stoute's yard, so I'm just trying to chip in where i can. If that's watching movers then so be it. I owe you big style for Makfi, got me out of a rut did that one!

Makfi was just old fashioned study - I'm lucky in that I have the time available for it. At the moment I'm formulating speed figures for Point-To-Point races (sad or what?).
Makfi was a good horse from abroad - they're often overlooked in the market and whilst he shouldn't have been favourite 8/1-10/1 would have been fair on what he'd done.
Watching the odds comparison sites and exchanges always helps with it - some horses are 25's, 20's, 14's and others are 25's straight in to 8's (these are generally better value as bets) but the bookies on course always want to get them in the book as it's the off-course boys who lay them in the morning and the course bookies always want a bit of the cake
Stoute is a very good trainer - there'll be far worse yards to get info from for sure, though his choice of apprentice jockey does worry me

Yes!! I'll be having a small 80 mins bet on them and I had them getting 12 so nice to see that Skybet have gone up with a 20 point start.
Any idea of the weather for Saturday?

| Thanks Exiled - +20 looks good then. Would add that as I understand it Sherwin isn't cup tied (well at least he isn't according to the Catalans website).
It gets costly though Wire_85 - 30 Euro's for 3 months of French racing, the UK/Irish stuff is free and use my mates Irish Point-To-Point account for that stuff and then £70 a year for the UK Pointing stuff (and even then the video's are only 2 minutes long).
Grand-Steeplechase De Paris this weekend - hopefully have a few good bets on the undercard for all

| After many years of studying the form I've come to the conclusion that it's purely and simply down to your luck on the day...it really is that simple.
It's extremely satisfying when you spend ages reading a race and come up with a conclusion and a result like CP did with Makfi..
Over the years though I've spent hours and hours looking at races and thinking I've found real good things and had decent 3 figure bets and they've been beaten out of sight, and on the other hand there's been times where I've nipped in a bookies with a couple of quid in my pocket and without much thought or attention quickly picked three out and had a treble and won 3 figures!
The most frustrating game in the World at times, but also the best game in the world when things go right.
I'm Ponte bound tomorrow night and am just about to start my work now for the next few hours to see if I can find a winner or two. Our lass and the young un are both coming and will still probably have more joy than me.

| The Racing Post is a good site - didn't become a member because can see everything I need to on the free video sites and reading the form for free on the site or on the ATR site.
There's plenty of good trainers for landing a touch and some who gamble everything and it gets stuffed out of site.
Personally don't like backing short-priced horses, would much rather back 33/1 and 25/1 shots each-way with a bit more on the win part than a 4/1 or 9/4 horse as the same things can go wrong but you get less for your stake
