Warrington look strong this year, I know they cop a lot of stick in regards to it being their year... every year but they have a very strong pack with home grown players like Philbin really hitting some form. Complimented by Austin and Ratchford with Widdop to come in the next few weeks. I really see them being the team to beat this year.



Not to say we don't have a chance because it's all about who shows up on the day.

Sunday is still a long way off yet and a lot can change with the weather between now and then. A couple of years ago we had a large family gathering planned for a Sunday afternoon in December but on the Friday before they were forecasting heavy snow so we cancelled it. Come Sunday the sun was shining and there wasn't a flake of snow to be seen !!!

Looking at the BBC forecast it is currently forecasting light rain showers and 40 mph gusts for 3.00pm on Sunday, dropping to 21mph gusts at 4.00pm, so nothing like what we had last Sunday, but like I say, things are likely to change between now and Sunday....hopefully for the better ??

The main thing we need to change by Sunday is injury recovery for the likes of Arona and ball skills so our passing is more crisp.

If we put the amount of ball down that we did at Rovers against Warrington they will kill us off in no time.

It's winnable...... But we need to be at our best

The trouble with renting from a football club is that you can only play there when they say so. Check out the pies fixture list. They play HKR on may 15th and then don't have another home fixture till July10th.

To be fair this break might be a blessing in disguise, another week without a game for our battered squad to recover from their various knocks and injuries (and practice catching)



Though I'm not expecting to get much change out of Wire, they've come out of the traps strong and look like a really well balanced unit, plenty of grunt in the pack and guile in the backs.

Baptism of fire on Sunday but these are the very games when we get given no chance and come away maybe not the win but with a lot of credit for our performance.Here’s hoping anyway .

Sunday is likely to be a very different game due to the weather, if it does go ahead. There will be mistakes galore and whichever team can hang on to procession will take the spoils.



After the way we played against both Saints and Wigan we’d be far happier facing you in better conditions but I’m sure that both clubs will want to get this one out of the way, especially Wakey since you’ve already missed last weekend.



How well does you’re pitch drain?

Very well, usually....I believe part of the base is cinders from the old power station many, many years ago ??

I was told that its Victorian engineering under that pitch and the skills to replicate it have long gone.



That could be rubbish ofcourse, I was told it in the chippy.....





But it drains incredibly well.

Needs to be played. Weather should be a leveller.

Wire at 60% of what they showed against Saints, beats Wakey at 100% of what they showed against HKR.



So to have a chance, we have to be *significantly* better - and they have to be significantly worse; which seems unlikely.

I think that we all have to hope that what we showed against KR isn't seen again this season - it was awful (understatement).

The most worrying aspect about the game was it's similarities with London away, last season. Although our passing and kicking game were arguably worse.

Right now, we just hope that Toronto dont get up to speed any time soon.

The seasons only 1 game in for Trinity yet some seem more concerned about what other teams are up to and capable of. It's an all round better squad we have had in years , and i for one expect them to come good .

The squad, when close to full strength, does look better than last season.

However, we have begun the season with a few too many injuries, especially in the forwards, to allow us to be properly competitive.

We saw last season, the damage caused when we were unable to rest / rotate players and the effects of poor confidence in the side and after the utterly inept display against KR, who many have tipped for the wooden spoon, it's crucial that we start to see some signs of recovery, both in terms of squad numbers but, also in our ability as a side to compete.

Ourselves and KR survived on the last day of last season and from the pre season games, especially against Huddersfield and the game at KR, I havent seen anything to make me believe that we are in for anything other than a struggle.

Yes, we have players missing and yes, we have players just making their comeback but, we haven't seen anything yet to show that much has changed from last season.

I'll be more than happy for anyone to tell me that I was worrying for nothing and that it was just a case of getting some bodies back but, the Huddersfield friendly and opener at KR would suggest that we will be fighting at the wrong end of the table.

As for the game against Wire, if we can stay within 20 points of them, it will be a decent performance.

Forms a strange thing and when you lump it with confidence the outcome can be devastating but I think we have or should have the squad to see us through..The best time to evaluate would be after 5 or 6 games , C C will be the one to either pull the squad through or make a hash of it, the club's fates in his hand.

Well Warrington won't have Anthony Gelling. And if the rumours of what he has done is true he should be kicked out for good.

Thought Mr Chester said we had put together a squad in close season that could compete in every match .The Huddersfield game and the H K R game show's that is not the case .unless we have got our strongest team out all season do not think we will be capable off competing for the bottom four .Think the money as been wasted

You show me a SL team that can compete with 7 front rowers on the treatment table.

Don't think a friendly or even first game of the season is a good barometer for any team to be fair

Ok injurys but do not think it's all down to bad luck.

I think a better yardstick is 6-8 games in. I remember years ago we won our first three or four games and topped the table, some people were getting giddy but it turned out to be another season of struggle after all the early promise, so our present position is no measure of what we will do this season.

Warrington confirmed today that Widdop is available for selection on the weekend.
