Great news, but the hype detracts from it.

Wonder why only 2 years given the other contracts extended to 2028 or so. I see the 3rd year is a club option, again seems strange for us not to commit to him for three years.

People moan when out social media presence and marketing was bad, but then moan about having a a slot on Sky Sports rugby segment and generating clicks and impressions on social media and people talking about Wakefield Trinity.



Good news for the club, good to see a wakey lad extend his stay at the club, remember when we couldn't keep our home grown talents a few years ago? Batch, TJ etc.



It might not be 'HUGE' news but its got peoples interest and imagination. Enjoy the ride....

Great news ,I'm glad he's signed. I was expecting something HUGE I'm a little underwhelmed.

It’s great news, good from the club to collaborate with Sky and get McMeeken linked in, good to promote it. He’s a record breaker and a massive part of our team, symbolises the journey over the last 5 years.



I’ve said this before, but I don’t think loads of clubs will have been in for Jowitt. These days there are only 6 or 7 clubs ‘bigger’ than us, and most of them have got marquee Aussie fullbacks.

If this was announced at 7pm on a Monday, people would be moaning that we are not celebrating our own, record breaking, key squad member. We should be bragging about retaining our talent, especially players like Max.

It's effectively a four year deal, if we take up the extension he's here until 2028 anyway by which time he'll be 31 so seems about right.

Very good news I couldn't see Max going anywhere really. He's been such a good clubman in the bad times- why would he leave now. Like I say very good news but 'huge' just wrong choice of word imo

Im glad the club hyped it up, I think it sends a great message to younger players.

Any positive airtime on socials or news outlets is of benefit to the club so I completely agree. We shouldn’t be happy with being a small club and it seems like we are now acting as a big club.

Just my opinion- I'm not blasting the club for it I just feel that word was the wrong adjective - it infers something more than a contract extension - albeit , of one helluva player and Max has no bigger fan than me.

I praised him when the club were messing him about when others players would have walked!

A far better word to use would have been 'exciting' the word 'huge' got me thinking of something massively affecting the club longterm!

If we'd just signed someone with his CV and skills it would be huge. It's just familiarity has caused us to under value the signing.



And I think it's worth clarifying that too. He was not ours for 2026. He could have gone elsewhere. He is effectively a new signing for 2026.
