I'm not that fussed about the Litten deal, but it's certainly an area that has lacked investment.
Denive should be the next cab of the rank at 9, and can be helped by Hookem and Joey.

| Quote fosdyke99="fosdyke99"we seem incapable of finding young local halfs.when we signed sneyd in 2015,whatever his faults ,it was the first time for a few years we had a number 7.very rarely injured or in trouble with the disciplinary.from 2015 till 2021 we had a settled scrum half, during those 6 years it gave us the perfect time to gradually groom a young number 7 to take over when sneyd departed.2021 sneyd leaves.have we groomed a young local number 7?.no we sign a well past his best 33 year old .says it all for me.i cant remember last time we had a local scrum who held the position for any length of time.probably phil windley from the 1990s.'"
We had an excellent young scrum half who practically beat Wakey on his own on debut but Peter Sharpe roasted him for moving out of his defensive box Then sold him on, probably led to his career stall. Recently retired. Anthony Thackeray.

A really good Championship player. I don't think his lack of opportunities in Super League were because he got told off once by his coach.
Our next scrum half was supposed to be MacNamara but it's not working out so far and his back injury is a big blow. If he can recover from that then he might be our future 7.
On Saturday we can see how Hookem does after last week's snoozefest. We can't be much worse ... can we?

Could be any number of things.
A lot happens to kids between 17 and 20. To be a Superleague player requires exceptional physical and mental attributes. While kids might show potential, that is no guarantee that they will reach it.
Good coaching can help. I wonder what the success rate in Australia is from turning academy kids into NRL players. And I wonder how that compares with SL teams.

Think he would be surprised to read that he is retired, seen as though he is still scoring and assisting most of Sheffield's tries this year!
He is retiring at the end of the season though!
Also, sometimes it is a players choice not to be full time, and turn down advances of SL clubs - especially if their day job is pretty lucrative and a SL contract wouldn't match it

Agreed. Last year he was poor in a side playing very badly. This year with our dominant middles he looked so much better.
Is there any news on his injury? Having him and Hookem competing for the 7 shirt could be good for the team.

Apologies to him. I could’ve sworn, I read he was going at the end of last season, Sheffield were keen for him to go again this season, they must have changed his mind.

Makes the same mistakes and won't drop or rest certain players.
His comment about Hookem not trained in the halfs, you would think with our halfbsck situation he would have done a couple of sessions there eve if the play was to play him hooker.
Fully expect Johnstone to play at 7 against Leeds too.
It isnt just a few games either.
If we don't win either of the next two games that's the play offs gone and that's not good enough with the cap we spend.'"
I believe it was pre season when i posted BH see's Hookem as a number nine and was shouted down by yourself and you insisted you had spoken to Hull's coaches who assured you i was wrong. You stated he would play more games at first team level as a scrum half in 2022. To date he has played every game while on loan as a hooker and it looks like he was scheduled to play part of the Warrington game in this position as well but then needed to fill in as a half back due to injury and as BH stated he hadn't been training in the half back position. If he fails to shine in Hull's first team i could see him make himself a decent living as a top championship hooker to be honest.

Every 4 weeks or so you post the same thing, you have no way of knowing Hodgsons thoughts, he was playing hooker because we had Gale and Whitehavem have decent halfbacks and no hooker, that's why they have signed Robb from Cas.
The facts are he has played 2 games for the first team both for Hull as a halfback and looks likely to play their on Saturday.
He has also played every reserve grade game at halfback.
Not really sure what your obsession with this is, just hope he gets a run in the first team, whatever position he plays, I suspect if he doesn't perform this week, he will be replaced with Gale (This might happen anyway)

My point is it's pretty common knowledge what this group of players needed, but our leaders deemed we needed a soft touch.
I honestly think were rudderless with key decisions, Pearson and the chief executive have alot to answer for as nothings changed,
