The Doc will likely regret the ridiculously one sided view of the situation he was arguing this week, particularly in view of what he has said previously about the previous coach's exit. However he is entitled to his opinion I guess - sport is all about opinions

As a RL radio commentator, his main role, he is good IMO. It was a long wait to actually get someone who would describe the game in a manner which allowed the listener to understand whereabouts on the pitch the game was being played, roughly speaking who was carrying the ball, who had scored etc. The Doyle had strengths in other areas but describing the game in detail wasn't one of them.

It's not about whether he's entitled to an opinion, it's the way a supposedly professional broadcaster puts it across. Getting all shi[itt[/iy with callers because they disagree with him is a very poor show on what's supposed to be a public service station.

Local radio rarely aspires to the higher levels of professionalism, and ex-RL pros employed in Docs role aren't really professional broadcasters as such. I agree he stepped over the line in what appeared to be the heat of the moment but I found it more amusing than anything else. As Staffs FC says I imagine he'll be regretting it as most of the time he comes across as pretty level-headed both on the radio and Twitter.

I appreciate he wasn't on R2 or 5Live, or anything, but surely [isome[/i standards of professionalism ought to be expected. And when I say 'professional broadcaster' I mean that he works for RH every week and gets paid for it. It's not like he's a guest summariser or occasional contributor.

He's been mostly slated for his opinion on here. As for losing his cool he did mildly do so and I suspect, as I said, he regrets it.

Well, it is quite a stupid one, as opinions go! Doesn't mean to say he's not entitled to it.

I found it amusing and suspect that he's waved the red rag for future debates. I think people will now see him as a good wind up target. If Mrs B had reeled off a list of names of players he'd failed to improve and was able to quote the his comments after Sharps sacking it'd have been interesting. I think he'd have really lost it.
