| Think I would feel differently about Jake going if we still had the same regime as last year.
We’ve now got someone in though who is proven as a head coach, and could be a catalyst for a lot of positive changes at the club.
He would have known the Jake situation before taking him the job, and if he’s comfortable with things, then I am as well.
I’m confident they’ll do what is best for the club. Jake was probably going to leave soon anyway. If he’s not happy, get something, or somebody, for him and move on.
No doubt there’s even more changes on the horizon.

| If we've got a proper number 7 in the pipeline I'll feel a bit more relaxed. Hope that's the case.
Also if we've signed Wardle, Griffin must be on the way out?

| As much as I'm a big Jake fan I can see why the club would look to offload, Hoy will go 1, Trueman 6/7, but we need another half and definately a 2nd rower, been told Jake needs a minor operation and will miss pre season and start of the season plus maybe he's already told the club he won't be signing a new deal so why not offload now, but need a quality replacement Macca and Lover not the answer. I'll renew my pass regardless always have always will we've had worst sides down the years people forgot that.

The team did look unbalanced as it stood. Hoy looks a full back all day long, and a Trueman / Connor half back combination didn’t look right to me.

If we can sign a good 7, we will also be better balanced, as others have said they aren't sure Hoy, Trueman and Connor would work.
My other fear was playing Connor at 1 and Hoy at 6, which would take away Hoy's best features IMO.
What every way you look at it, if we sign a decent 7, we will be in a much better place than at the start of 2022 in the 1,6,7 and 9 positions.
Another option (which I'm not sure about) would be to sign Walker and play Hoy and Trueman at halfback.
Don't think Will Smith did enough to be considered an option.
Also if we can add in a high quality young centre then it may not be as bad a deal as I first thought.

Griffin’s agent has been shopping him around the last few weeks. Honestly thought Radders would have snapped him up for Cas.
If we are getting Wardle, can get Longstaff and then a Big back rower and a 7 then with who we have already signed it would be fantastic recruitment.
All big IF’S though.

I’ve heard the same. Clark was saying after the Toulouse game that he (Connor) was struggling and looking like he would need an operation therefore would miss the start of pre season.
This is when he told people how happy he was at the club and was buying a house in Hull.
It’s never dull at this club

| If we could get someone of the quality of Clifford or Clune in (unlikely) at 7, I'd bite my own hand off.
Hoy at 1 and either of them alongside Trueman would be such a breath of fresh air. Young, apeedy and dynamic.
Let's be honest, Connor isn't anyone you're ever gonna be able to build a team around and with the departure of this seasons other muppet two halves maybe its just time for a new start and different direction?

| Saying all this, I'd still rather keep Connor, as I was looking forward to seeing what he would do under Smith.

Was hoping he'd get hold of Connor like he did with Briers

Whilst I can understand Connor may decide to leave if he feels we aren't going to win anything soon and sees it as another transitional period, I'd still be disappointed. For me unless he was to sign for say St's or Wigan there is no guarantee he'd win silverware any more with another club. It would also be disappointing if he chose to leave and to miss out on working with a highly regarded and successful coach who has a proven track record of improving players he works with. So in some ways if he doesn't want to take the opportunity to work with someone like Smith then maybe that says something?
Its all currently speculation and rumour but one things for sure big decisions are needed to move the club forward on the field.

| Could be that there’s been no one side that’s pushed for it to happen, but it just suits both parties.
Bit like the Sneyd situation
