Clifford is the only name getting mentioned who would be a acceptable replacement. The potential for a ‘homesick’ release would be a big worry though.

If English is coming as part of the deal for Jake going to Huddersfield then for me he’s a very good addition. Whilst we seem to have the numbers in the front row it’s been clear that other than Satae & Sao and we have lacked real go forward. Brown and Fash have done a good job also. Evans I’m still not sure on as he’s been very hot and miss so far and Taylor had looked way past his best.

If Taylor is with us this coming season then he really has to perform along with Evans. If they do then Sao could certainly step in at SR or LF and it was the 13 role he was initially signed to play.

If we can add a quality half to go alongside Truman and a quality SR to replace Mau we would have a decent squad all things considered.

I'd be more then placated if we signed Clifford. A very good signing if correct.



Be our second best after Tony Smith this off season, for me.

Good chance Knights will pay some of Clifford's salary first year, might allow us to sign English or Longstaff, both would be ideal, but would probably mean moving on a player.

Good player is Clifford, done pretty well in the NRL, really good when he moved to the Knights mid 2021, helped them make the playoffs. Started well this season, but like the rest of the team went off the boil. Think he will do well in SL and offers us better balance than with Connor and he will be available from game 1, Having Trueman and Connor missing for the start of the season would have been a diaster, Hudds have the cover to cope with his loss.



Be glad when we announce him, still hope we get English too.

Think Clifford would be a really good signing if we can get it done.

Decent short kicking game, with a good bomb on him (more an NRL tactic than. SL).

Intelligent footballer, would be great if we could get it over the line.

Connor is a prodigious talent, but get the feeling he never really fulfilled his true potential here. Maybe down to the coaching, maybe the player himself, or maybe a bit of both?



I’m happy the attacking threat will be spread around the team now though.

No one performs like a player looking for another pay day. Puts us in a strong position moving forward I think. Just got to hope we don’t get lulled in by players who suddenly start playing well and then half it when they get their new contract.



For the first time in a long while we have a young exciting spine who will all improve. Hopefully we can bring in a decent back rower, Longstaff and English but I imagine that would need someone like shaul to move on.



From there I’d be quite confident we have pretty decent depth and not too many players around our 19 man squad who have hit their peak.



From now on the priority has to be value for money. We need to worry about how in the last year of their contract their stock has risen so they need a payrise rather than they were a good player when we signed them 3 years ago.
