| Morgan smith done deal according to back page of HDM. Interchange hooker but probably start at 7 until Trueman is back.

| Sailor is definitely one from left field but could be a sensation in Super League.
An out and out number seven would be ideal but if the club are struggling to find one suitable and available then a chance to snap up Sailor is very tempting.

Got a link?
Not really surprised, Tomlinson name dropped him a few weeks back.
Gives us cover at 7 and 9. Smith signed him at Wire too when he was a youngster

| I guess it was Tony Smith who gave Morgan Smith his debut at Warrington.

Can't see that anywhere but he's been signed a while apparently.
Again on Sailor, been told we had missed out on him and he was Catalan bound so who knows.
The big worry as other's have said is the back row.

| McGillivray confirmed he's leaving the giants this morning, said he wants one more year playing:
"I think I'm gone," McGillvary said. "I don't think there is anything here for me. So, it's probably me done. I'd play somewhere else if it was full-time. It would be pretty hard for me to play part-time with my kid being in an academy in Manchester. Training in the evening wouldn't be doable for me. I've been looking for a year deal here or elsewhere, but I don't think that's going to happen.
"I'll never say never. From what I'm hearing, I'm done here. But, if there was an opportunity to go elsewhere as a back-up on a year deal to prove myself, maybe. Or help the younger lads. I'd be up for that."
That sounds ideal for what we want, sign him for a year, even if just as a backup, provides the experience and helps the young lads develop, and acts as a stop gap until a decent winger (Swift has a fall out with Watson) becomes available in 2025

I think the manchester thing would be a struggle for him personally, that's a ridiculous amount of travelling for any deal with us to be worthwhile.

McGillivray would provide far better quality cover than Mitch

| Sailor has a pretty good kicking game , Can throw a decent pass and has a bit of speed also . Wigan have / had French & Field play halfback and they aren't doing too badly .

| How is Mitch doing with his injury ? thought it was career threatening ?
Can see the logic in playing Hoy in the halves, will be a huge motivation for him - NRL chronically short of halves but dozens of full backs knocking about. IF he can step up his value & likely return to NRL will soar.

| Quite happy with Smith as a backup, improvement on McNamara.
If it happens could use the last spot on another backrower.

Name another non quota player we could realistically sign this season as a back up 7&9.
Is he better than Ben Mac… yes
Is he more versatile than Ben Mac… yes
Will he break the bank… no
The season he was in SL with London, he looked fantastic. Should be a very steady astute signing whilst we manage the overhaul of players

That's not right, has played alot more game than that.
There isn't a player in the world who would have played well behind that Wakey pack.
As a backup its a decent signing and a massive upgrade on McNamara.

| I'm sure he had a good season partnering Abdul when London went down on 20 or so points. Use to play some really good attacking rugby

He scored 22 tries in 30 games for Featherstone playing at stand off. That's good enough pedigree to be a back up half/hooker for me.

| Looking at a stop gap signing I wouldn’t be against Matty Ashurst. Only down side is he’s probably be around 33

| Quote Yippee try yay="Yippee try yay"My original thought was Ashworth to play backrow but he just looks too big and not mobile enough for the second row so I imagine he'll be taking Taylors place in the squad, I think we might just have to wait until 2025 to really target strengthening the second row or see if something becomes available mid season.
There just isn't the availability especially in this country, we have 3 good centres all who could play second row, we might have to move one short term until we can get some decent size in.'"
I don’t want to make too many assumptions based on one game but I was at Huddersfield Friday and apart from his late hit on Abdul to earn a yellow Ashworth was incredibly poor. He’s big, but he was incredibly immobile and got found wanting with pace at him. Granted he’s not played much and had litten, parcell and Lewis running at him in what looks a pre conceived idea however he certainly looked off it. Needs a proper pre season which he should get but he was far away from what you’d want. Agree he’s not quick enough for 2nd row so not sure that’s a viable option

To be fair to the lad he's not been in hudds side much since it was announced he's leaving, with a proper pre season and gametime in a settled side he should improve tenfold, Huddersfield are as big of a shambles as us but they've spend bucket loads of money on god knows how many players since whinging watson took charge.

Granted I wasn't there, but extremely poor, not mobile enough, but made the most metres of any forward except Linett?
Agree about not being a bavkrower, but think he will be a decent 4th prop.
