He'd be looking at Championship, probably. Maybe Wakefield would have a punt on him, you know what Kear's like with collecting ex-fc players

What sort of chunk of the cap would Dowes be taking? I think the main reason Calderwood was released was (I'm guessing) the salary he was commanding - we'd have risked the injury liability if he was on a similar wage to, say, Briscoe, Turner and Sharp.

Exactly. Now I'm not suggesting they're on a par as players, but I find it strange that Radford was pilloried for not offering what people expected of a loose forward whilst Fitzgibbon is lauded, as they have both done exactly the same job there, just to differing levels.



For some reason, people seem to struggle seeing beyond the shirt number at times. It was the same when we had Cooke and Horne wearing 6 and 7, respectively.

I've seen this bit of spin creeping in a few times recently. Makes it sound like a mass recruitment drive, when in actual fact 6 of them were kids, of whom 3 never even looked like getting a game. Wholesale changes is not how I'd describe it.

Are they the 3rd or 4th team to have arranged that deal?

Lets just all buy a pass, buy a bib and get on with drooling our way through another season of inadequecy

I know we've upped the deals for manu, and tickle but they can't have been increased that much, radford has taken a cut and I don't see that we will have offered yeaman an increased deal (I'd like to think it would have been reduced but I doubt it)

We upgraded Houghton and Whiting also and had McShane on loan briefly. Not sure it's fair to include Tuffour on the out list and exclude academy promotions from the in list. Reckon Tickle's upgrade will have been significant. The other thing we don't know is whether there's any front/back loading on contracts, ie players on 3 year deals don't get the same each year. Never heard it rumoured with reference to our players, but it has been mentioned at others.

Got til the end of December to buy pass,and don't intend buying one at the moment with no new signings.Will make my mind up when Thurston and Slater announce they only signed because of Agars Reputation.

Reckon it will of been as his previous contract will of been based on playing for his country.

Agar also mentioned on Humberside that the board and himself were also quietly confident with the existing squad that they have at present to do a job next year in super league and that they also realise that the decent players have already been signed by other clubs, i would say tryin to dig yourself out of a hole before the season starts springs to mind, i really cant see them signing anyone or if they do will be players no one has heard of just to say see we said we were gonna sign another 3 players.. Can see a lot of unhappy fc fans next year..

I liked the look of Charnley when he was at our neighbours, would be a great investment if and a big if Wigan would let him go.

You'd have thought he'd have come out and said: "Our team now is rubbish, we desperately need some signings and will pay over the odds.. for anyone!"

Players have received upgrades so that will have taken a chunk. Tuffour, Hall and Yak were not earning much money so they are hardly big salaries. I reckon there is room for two players but not top ones.

Yak was working on the other side of the planet, I doubt he was doing it for less than £60k, Hall probably £30k (ish), Tuffour wont have been on much less than £20k, £110k all in.
