Quote Keiththered="Keiththered"I believe Sandy started with a two year contract and then had it extended by one year. I agree three years does seem a long time for a first time head coach. To call it bonkers is a bit strong however. In what way have we gone backwards since Sandy left? Now is the time to give Chester our full support not use his appointment as an excuse to push Sandy's cause. Whatever you think, that time has gone and we need to look forward to the new era. Even when you you say you will get behind Chester you qualify your support with a negative. Approaching things in a negative way never brings success and only tends to bring about the result you anticipate. Let's hope the people inside the club do not have your negative attitude.'"
I don't see any improvement since sandy left and, IMO, there is less of a structure to our play, the attitude of the players is terrible (widnes), lack of apparent game plan and discipline issues. I'm not saying that sandy was the answer and deserved a new deal, but hailing Chester as the next big thing and giving him a 3 year deal seems a bit much. If the last 7 or so games were his audition for the job then I don't see how he's passed it. There has been no up turn in fortunes. Look at Powell at Cas or lowes at Bradford and see the impact they have had. In any business, companies have a rigorous interview process when recruiting for such an important position. Did we even hold any interviews with other potential candidates? I just hope that Chester wasn't appointed on sentiment alone coupled with the trend to appoint British coaches at the moment.
