| sheens was on sports talk tonight and said they'd enquired about carney in the last few days which suggests whoever they were after originally isn't coming and carney not interested in a return to the UK

Here's what he said on leaving Salford:
[iI've been thinking about it for the last year and I've got a young family and it's time to take the family home.
I've been here for 10 seasons now and we're just ready to go back, settle down and take a step back from full-time rugby league and move onto the next phase.
I'm going to play a little bit semi-professionally back in Australia and working within another club trying to get my foot in the door within the realm of coaching and development.
Salford coach Ian Watson added: While we hoped Dobbo may change his mind, his decision to take his family home is the right one for him but as a person, and a player, he will be greatly missed.[/i
It sounds like he's moved on and has a plan.
He was contracted to Salford for this season (4 seasons from 2015), so even if he wanted to come back, I can't see it being straight forward. Salford won't want another Joel Moon situation, and I don't think Dobson is that sort of person.

Hopefuly that will put the Michael Dobson question to bed once and for all.

You say that but he left Rovers with a year still on his contract by playing the ‘going home’ card only to rock up at the AJ within a year.
Having said that, it sounds like he has a plan and good luck to him, was a great servant for us.

Aye, I suppose. But it felt to me that he genuinely wanted another crack at the NRL, just as Josh Hodgson did when he went the following year.
And he did a season over there, whereas Moon moved straight to Leeds.
Kris Keating turned out to be an oddly inadequate replacement for Dobson. Not out-and-out bad, a bit overweight maybe but not quite Albert Kelly in early 2016, and he seemed to trying. Still only 29 now. I guess some players just lose their mojo in one way or another.

| I think Dobson genuinely wanted another crack at the NRL before it was too late I don't think he tried to hoodwink us I n anyway I think we got the best years of his career out of him probably our biggest success in the SL era

| I’m surprised that they haven’t enquired about Jordan Lilley as he’s definitely down the pecking order at Leeds.

I’d park it for the time being and let Atkin have a 6-8 game run to bed himself in. Let’s not forget he’s only been full time 6 months so it’s a huge step up for him. The early signs are encouraging.
Save the cap space and quota spot for a right nasty of a forward later in the year.

Yeah, I think that’d be the way to go. No idea who it’d be, mind you.
