| Ok troops, 1st of the season. No matter how well they have trained, no preseason game to test themselves which with such a big influx of new players may make this a tougher game than if played later in the season.
Think that makes it hard to call, but as ever i'm hoping their quality will see them win. Of course AFC are at home on Saturday & with all the rain we have had & Sunday likely to be wet too anything may happen. Rumours of over 2k tickets sold is encouraging though if true.
The only downside is the lame shirt they will play in. Oh well!

| I’m broadly with you on all of that. First game, no pre season friendlies and a lot of new combinations always adds a bit of fog, especially if it’s wet or scrappy. For me though it’s less about the scoreline (although I like to think we’ll flog ’em) and more about what we look like and please no injuries. If we’re well organised, compete hard, defend properly and play with intent I’ll be happy. And please no stupid penalties or unforced errors like we’ve seen too often in previous seasons. The quality is there and you’d back it to show over 80 minutes. Crowd rumours are encouraging too. First game at Plough Lane with a decent gate, some edge and a bit of belief goes a long way. As for the shirt, I couldn’t care less if it’s plain, pink or borrowed from Sports Direct. Win ugly, build momentum and let the rugby do the talking.
Slight aside, but it’s no wonder it’s gone almost silent here lately. The forum is borderline impossible to use now. Slow, clunky and the cookie police popping up every 30 seconds like a badly timed video ref. Hard to post when you’re fighting the interface. It's taken 7:42m to open the forum, log in, click on this thread and that's before posting. Useless. Error 500 kept coming up at every stage too.

| shouldn't we now have a squad up? Thought it had to be done 48h before games. Or is my maths/ memory defective?
Agreed re-this site. Is there anywhere we could defect to?

| The squad has been announced, it's not on X but more likely Facebook or Instagram neither of which I bother myself with.
The off field stuff is still lagging a lot sadly. I suppose the apparent absence of Jake isn't helping any.
The forum at Total Rugby has a very active Broncos thread where you will find some familiar names. Even Gutterfax under his new moniker of London Born Irish Bred.
Like to think what we lack in numbers here, we make up for in class, despite the trials & tribulations of access.
We seem to have sold over 2k tickets so should be a decent atmosphere.

| Painfully slow to log in. Can only do so on phone not iPad. Has the site reboot been done. If so I can see why posting is dropping like a stone. Looks a little existential for a site that’s been providing a good service for 20 odd years. Turning to Broncos they do seem to favour Insta which I’m not signed to. But patchy on X and Facebook. We now where the Wests match is being played but am I missing sonething - how do you buy tickets? On the squad - looks strong. Bit surprised no place for Tindall. Hoping for a good match.

| It's a shame there's just one thread going on the total rl forum but I suppose if everyone defects....
Chat there about 3k crowd.
Anxiety on full setting. Only 1 hooker. No Tindall. Lockyer and Wecshel seemed a bit overconfident on the league express podcast this week. Aaaahhhh

The overconfidence bothers me too. Borders on arrogance.Northern clubs will put in an extra effort against us. Our game will be their cup final. We look good on paper but a new coach, lots of new players to gel, no friendlies to try out combinations etc…and I hear two players crocked in the in house warm up game last week ( Davis and one of the Kumuls). Fingers crossed it comes right tomorrow.

| A huge game for both clubs today, and even this beinng the first game of the new season could have a huge bearing on the rest of the season.

| Hello to my old sparring partners. It's the man from the "bus stop in Wigan" here but with a new account due to the trials of the new platform. Following your match on Radio Merseyside; out of the blocks sharpish then en forme de poire for a while but the half won. Good luck this season

| In the end it was easy-peasy (or "jus' lark shellin' pays" - as an Athertonion pal of Bongser would say). Wests Warriors up next - the might of the Palitoy Acton Men (gripping hands, eagle eyes etc& . After his daily travails in Manc, Bongser walks down to a mixing-pot railway station pub in Salford for a little apres ski. Therein he finds a fellow Leopard, a Rhino, two Hornets, a Robin, a Pie-Eater and several RLFCers (formerly Red Devils). All chunner RL (and soccer & cricket) at length, but there is a further regular that is often a non-participant as he has zero interest in sport (as his portliness attests). He was brought up in Acton (his name is John not Jamie) and in a jolly good effort to conform has started to look up the results of all his chums' teams and has adopted Brentford as his soccer team of preference. Brentford are doing rather well at the mo (excluding yesterday) so Bongser has alerted him to your tie with Wests W's and encouraged him to support them - that (with your lads' compliance) he might learn the pain of sports fans and fit in fully with our masochistic crowd. PLEASE THUMP 'EM 'ARD!

Hope you are well and gearing up for another Super League season. I don’t think people are blanking you it’s just like pulling teeth to get on this site. Don’t know what takes longer posting on this site or getting from North London to Wimbledon. I thought our 3,4 and captain were a bit too much for Widnes and we ground them down. I think Vikings play pretty decent stuff so it’s a good result for us and hopefully we can keep the wins coming and grow crowds. Could be a good season after quite a few indifferent ones. All the best.
