I'm not condoning or condemning but the same thing happens over here all the time. Charlie Gilmour got 18mnths for something that would probably have got him an on the spot fine, had there been no political connection.

Better (and more appropriate) comparison: Go into a mosque and sing "Cameron is a c**t".

As for 'contrived fashonista punk', I can only assume you never really understood the central ethos of the 76 (and continuing) punk movement. It was largely to hold a mirror up to society and point out the flaws, not to be a static issue from one year.
