Why do the imbeciles do it?
Another idiot:
news.sky.com/story/1117439/mp-wh ... nist-tweet
These people are supposed to be representing their constituents and in some cases governing the country but they are so far up their own *rses (or other peoples) they spend all there time typing inane comments that no one is interested in save as a useful noose to hang 'em with.
Things like Twitter are a lose, lose for politicians but still they carry on.

On the contrary, I want to know what my MP is doing, prior to the one we have now I didn't even know his name, now I know where his appointments are, I know what he is voting for, I know what his opinions are on any specific issue, I can tweet him myself and ask him a question (and he answers) and I'm on his emailing list so I get a newsletter summary from him once a month to explain what he's been doing, what is currently passing through parliament and what he is doing on some of the committees he serves on.
I also get to find out which pub he goes to for his sunday lunch each week, what time train he catches home every friday and joking aside I also know that he puts the hours in for his constituency and that he's not just napping in The House or mumbling "Hyar, Hyar" when prompted - which is the image that most people have of their MP - for all he is a LibDem I know that my MP works very hard.

I think some MPs use it well as per Mr. Chicken's MP, however, it appears the vast majority get it completely wrong.
In terms of the Zionist tweet, I agree that his method and implementation was wrong, but think that the state of Israel and the treatment of the Palestinians needs to be addressed.

| Good to see Ed Balls retweeting a Baltimore Police attempt to have their own version of Ed Balls Day too.
Some MPs use Twitter properly and sensibly, and if Twitter isn't about encouraging debate, what IS it for? Don't see anything wrong with what Ward has tweeted tbh.

| By far the best tweet this weeks comes curtesy of the brainless wonkbots that Camoron has beavering away on his twitter account. This from Monday:
[iDavid Cameron @David_Cameron 15 Jul
We're rolling out a cap on Benefits today - @IDS_MP and I are determined to make work pay, and help the UK compete on the #GlobalRace.[/i
On the face of it, it seems like a favoured minister getting the backing of his Prime Minister. That is until you look further at the @IDS_MP account - it's a sppof.
"Chin chin old bean. Parodia Spucatum tauri
Westminster"
Here's some of IDS_MP's usual fayre:
[i#AskBoris Is Dave coming to the Lodge tonight to discuss this Gentleman's Club thing? It's my turn to bring the Port and Jaffa Cakes I think
The Tory party does not Lobby with Big Tobacco. Just ask Lambert my Butler - he'll confirm this #PMQs[/i

| The only thing that I can see that might have been wrong in what he tweeted was when he referred to the "the Jews" instead of "Israel". <EDIT : That wasn't in the tweet, so I see nothing wrong with the tweet at all>
Descriptions such as "apartheid state" are entirely justified, how else would you describe the current conditions for Palestinians in the West Bank?
I would like Dally to tell me just what was idiotic about the tweet.

I said HE was idiotic (IMO). The fact that he has been sanctioned by his party (albeit in a pointless way) seems to bear out my opinion.

OK so, if the tweet wasn't idiotic, why do you say he was idiotic?

For using the medium in a sloppy way that could potentially see him lose his job.

Leave it out, the guy is obviously passionate about the issue.
I'd far rather have that than one who slavishly toes the party line with which he strongly disagrees.

Yup. Same here.
It's hardly as though we have an overload of passion in Parliamentary politics.
