That just shouldn't have happened last night...but it did and it's unfathomable !
We were in relatively good form (apart from the HKR second half), we are in play off contention, points difference is critical, it was a local derby, there were 17,000 people there...and they threw the towel in !
It just doesn't make sense. On the whole team spirit has been good this year, there are times we have shown mental strength and all the good things that have happened this year, could have potentially been washed down the pan with an inept display and awful attitude shown by the players.
There's only one thing that can partly erase this debacle and that is to win against Wigan. If they fail to do that and show similar attitude problems, they will get 'crucified' next week. The season is in danger of fizzling out in the space of four games and send us all into a period of post-season disappointment. Any positivity that has been created this year, has been severely clouded with that 'performance' from the players.
My glass is half full, I'm positive, I do believe that BEFORE the Leeds game we had made substantial progress, we are still in with a shout of the play offs, but last night was very much out of character and aligns fears that there may be something more deep rooted.
There's no point us sulking, we can't do anything about our situation - the 17 players that play Wigan, Terry Matterson and the coaching staff have to close all doors this week, stick together and put the effort in against Wigan and get the 2pts. Defeat is not an option.
The players will get clapped off week in and week out if they give us effort. The attitude on offer yesterday from the players, will not be tolerated by supporters.
