This morning and beyond : Mon Apr 19, 2010 9:16 am
I wonder who had a sleepless night last night thinking about themselves and their application at the moment? From the board and CEO to the academy players.

The truth is that every single person at the club is partly to blame and I think I was wrong to place all the blame on TM. Sure, Im not happy and he is partly to blame, but far from the only one.

We are in trouble in many ways at Cas at the moment. Everyone has to be part of the solution. I dont work there, I dont have lots of money, but I can turn up and support the club as much as I can - thats exactly what I intend to do on Sunday v Salford.

Come on Cas, collectively we are better than this, despite the numerous individuals letting our proud club down.

That's a great sentiment Chesh, great dedication to the club in bad times which is what has made us such a great club for the size of the town. However, although about 90% of me agrees with you I can't help but feel in some way that our blind loyalty to the club encourages the current regime to not try hard enough. I suppose next couple of games will be the benchmark and see how we rally against Salford, but from everything I hear and see, things are sadly going to get worse before they get better.

Re: This morning and beyond : Mon Apr 19, 2010 10:59 am
I've tried to remain quite positive through the fog, but to be honest, I can't grasp any shreds of positivity now.

What was clearly evident to me, was the body language of the team, from the first minute really. There were players on the field that clearly didn't want to be there. Our senior players have let us and themselves down badly. The team play with fear, they don't have any mental strength whatsoever and had no heart for the fight yesterday. It was a cup game and the desire to win was evident from one team only. Our backs have been against the wall for a few weeks now and to turn out a performance like that, instead of showing fight, was spineless in my opinion.

When the team are behind the posts after conceding try after try, they are disjointed, some are shaking their heads as if to send a message to supporters to say 'Well I'm trying my best'. The 'team' has deteriorated to a group of individuals that look to be embarrassed to be associated with each other. No player is taking any responsibility. The difference in spirit between the two teams was also evident. Incredibly, we still don't look fit and we are ending the month of April !

If they had wanted that yesterday, they would have taken it, for themselves, for the under fire coach and also us. At the start of the season, the words are 'they want to do it for the fans' at home and make the Jungle into a fortress. Very weak words now, with no evidence that's what they really want to achieve - and that's all we are getting now, words and excuses. Eighty minutes after eighty minutes are abject, the defence is abysmal and we have no idea how to break a team down.

If the players and staff have had sleepless nights, the supporters have to wake up to that 'effort' this morning and go to work and try and 'defend' their team and club. I'm fed up of saying 'We are s***' !

They are no longer playing for themselves, each other, their coach or indeed us. We are losing supporters in droves.

A very sad morning to be associated with Cas.

This sums my feelings up exactly.

The players are keeping their heads down because they know its not good enough, when the fans were giving them a tirade of abuse at the end of the game I noticed that Rangi Chase looked almost as if he was hiding from the fans. You see Westerman shaking his head every time we concede a try this season.

I noticed that James Evans was one of the players taking charge after conceding one of the tries because nobody else was talking to each other. What's going on?

My feelings at the time were summed up when the Barrow players were given the applause at the end of the game which is normally reserved for our own and it was fully deserved. Our players went straight down the tunnel yesterday because they were gutless and they knew what would have happened if they'd come over to the fans. I hope they saw the reception that Barrow were given by their own supporters.

Full credit to Barrow, they fully deserved the win and our players deserve to be out of the competition.

"You're not fit to wear the shirt" is apt in more ways than one. 3 young lads out there yesterday and Mike Wainwright are the only ones who should be proud of their efforts yesterday, the rest should have a good look in the mirror.

Q: What did the five fingers say to the face?

A: SLAP!!

Re: This morning and beyond : Mon Apr 19, 2010 12:00 pm
We need something big to happen on or off the field and fast. The fans have lost all faith that the team can go out there and put in a winning performance and if it turns out to be true that the players were partying last night (even if it was planned months in advance that they would go out that particular night) I dont know if I should be incredibly sad that they apparently dont give two hoots about what went on or if I should be seething with anger at their disregard for our feelings. I mean really? not one of them said "look, maybe tonight is not the best night to be making the club look bad after that showing?"
Believe it or not the team performence is not my greatest concern right now after hearing reports from the board themselves that financially the club is pretty much reliant on one board members cash and this board member is apparently not in the best of health and copped a fair amount of abuse from our own fans against Saints. Overall the clubs finances dont sound great right now with attendences down, lottery income significantly down and I think a further attendence drop is obvious at this point we look very shaky right now.
I dont want to make excuses for the BOD but our biggest longterm problem is money. We need some good news on the new stadium which will attract better sponsership and attendences which meens more money for players.
The franchise application year is closing fast and all our hopes are begining to feel like "pie in the sky".
I fear for our future right now.
As for Matterson I think a big bum kicking is in order today for all of the senior team members and questions asked as to what they want from their time at Castleford Tigers R.L.F.C.
