Why?

People keep bringing this up. But we've had this already & it didn't work. Up until our 1st administration we had about 30% of our total shareholding held by the fans in 5 & 10 share blocks. Caisley & Hood were the 2 biggest shareholders but together they barely got to 50% iirc. This diluted shareholding was widely held to be a factor in our demise at the time.

In the Newcastle example above, 33% will be held by the fans, like we were. What would be different?

Why not? Well:

1. You don't have a hope in hell of raising several million pounds to buy the club from fans

2. Even if you did, that one-off injection of capital wouldn't raise a penny towards future running costs so it would be another disaster waiting to happen

3. Where is the squad of dedicated and able business heads that would be heading up the bid, voluntarily running the business if acquired, and funding it year on year (same as any other owner has to do)?

A complete and utter non-starter, unless severely rich people come along. And if my a miracle some such appeared, they would want to buy it, not run it for free as part of some weird committee.

Maybe it should be pinned to the top of the forum for ease of access everytime someone mentions why don't we just do like similar clubs do? You know the ones, The Green Bay Packers, Newcastle Knights and Barcelona.....

I've just found 2 million quid in my pocket. I must have forgotten about it. I don't know what to do with it.

Assuming you can get the club for £1 if you agree to pay off the debts -
1. pay off the debt
2. put the rest towards the funding shortfall and honouring season tickets.
3. find similar again in around April, and then approx. once a quarter.

I'll have a look in my other jeans round about April then. No worries.
