Re: Jake Connor signing : Sat Jun 18, 2016 7:16 am
I think Durham has been disengenuous there. Connor is a real homegrown talent who initially played his academy rugby at half back, got switched to fullback due to injury and was subsequently picked for international duties. He played internationally a then more unaccustomed position of centre, he's also played on the wing for us this season. He lacks pace but his understanding of the game makes up for that. Yes he does miss the odd tackle, and give away the odd penalty but he's an aggressive player who gives his all. It's difficult to say where his best position is, I like him in the halves but his kicking game is hit and miss, and his lack of pace limits him there and at centre or wing. He's not a fullback for me although can do a decent job there. I suspect he will end up at second row eventually. I do however think the announcement is poor timing by hull FC.
