I'm no Radford fan nor was I happy at his appointment as coach in the first place but the mess that McRea & Gentle have left us in is going to take some time sorting out .
His recruitment is poor ? . The general consensus of the Sa & Sneyd signings are fairly positive I would say , Hadley , Lancaster & Abdul all making positive debuts with the possibility of more making their debuts this season which is a good thing as this season is gone imo.
I don't think Peter Gentle left the club in a mess.
He had already recognised his idea of a smaller mobile pack wasn't effective and had started to recruit Bigger props.
Paea was signed, and Feka was identified whilst Gentle was still the coach.
Thompson was also a Gentle signing.
Who he would have cleared out is unknown, but for sure he would have kept Pitts who in my opinion is a much better alround player than Tuson and far better tackler.
The idea of signing Miller was that he would have come at the same time as Scott Prince to give him a more experience half to learn from and not thrown in at the deep end.
That didn't work out and Gentle took a gamble to bring him over later.
I also have to say in defence of Gentle that he had to contend with a horrendous injury list but still took the club to Wembley and a 6th place league finish.
Hadley and Shaul both made debuts under Gentle not Radford.
The club is going backwards under Radford, fans losing interest fast, and the effect on attendances clearly seen.
I also think the way the club have treated McDonnell and possibly Miller to come has not gone unnoticed, with players and agents and will undoubtable effect the clubs ability to bring in Quality players.
Ben Roberts goes to Castleford and we class Pryce as a marquee signing.
Says it all really.
